The $449.99 headline referred to a Canadian GameStop/EB Games promotion in December 2021—not a current offer for any PS4. The top value applied to a PS4 Pro 1TB traded toward a new PS5 or Xbox Series X/S bundle, and the promotion was reportedly cancelled early after GameStop reached its quota.
Which PS4 models qualified for the $449.99 value?
MobileSyrup reported these promotional trade values in Canadian dollars on December 3, 2021. The amounts varied by console model and storage capacity:
| PS4 model | Reported promotional value |
|---|---|
| PS4 500GB | $299.99 CAD |
| PS4 Slim 500GB | $329.99 CAD |
| PS4 Slim 1TB | $349.99 CAD |
| PS4 Pro 1TB | $449.99 CAD |
The maximum was specifically for the PS4 Pro 1TB; it was not a flat value for every PS4. The credit was tied to purchasing a new-generation console bundle. The report said the offer was in-store only and could not be combined with other trade offers. MobileSyrup’s December 3, 2021 report later updated that the promotion was reportedly cancelled early after GameStop reached its quota.
Does GameStop currently offer $449 for a PS4?
No current $449 PS4 offer is established here. GameStop trade values depend on the exact product and can change, so the 2021 Canadian promotion should not be treated as a present-day quote.

As an example of how different a current listing can be, an official GameStop US page for a PS4 Slim 1TB generated on September 12, 2026 showed up to $60 in regular store credit or $42 cash. Those amounts were valid only for that date; they are not a guaranteed current price or a quote for other PS4 models. Check the exact model through GameStop’s trade lookup and confirm the value with the store before making plans.
What affects a GameStop trade-in quote?
- Model and configuration: Values are product-specific; a standard PS4, Slim, and Pro can receive different quotes.
- Condition and components: GameStop says good condition and necessary components are needed for the highest value. Its PS4 trade details also advise bringing the console and related cords or accessories; hardware must be fully working for full value.
- Store assessment: Condition and value are determined by GameStop at its discretion, and hardware trades are subject to manager approval.
- Availability: The general trade program is limited to select products and stores in the United States and Guam, according to GameStop’s trade-in terms.
GameStop states, “All trades are final.” Review the quote and the store’s assessment before accepting a trade.
