Gear.Club Unlimited is an approachable arcade racer for Nintendo Switch, built around short races, car collecting and tuning, and local split-screen play. Nintendo Life’s 2017 review rated it 7/10, praising its accessible handling and quick sessions while noting predictable AI and clunky menus. It is a better fit for casual racing than for players seeking a full simulator.
What is Gear.Club Unlimited?
Gear.Club Unlimited is a Nintendo Switch racing game developed by Eden Games and published by Microids. Nintendo’s product description promises over 400 races, a collection of cars to customize and tune in workshops, and solo or multiplayer racing. The “over 400” figure is Nintendo’s publisher-stated feature count, not an independently verified tally. The US listing dates the game’s release to November 21, 2017; Nintendo UK lists December 1, 2017, reflecting regional release dates.
Nintendo identifies the US store edition as a digital download and reports a 6.8 GB file size. Nintendo UK lists both a Game Card and a download version, so a physical edition exists in that regional listing, but that does not establish current stock in every country. Check format, region, condition, availability and total price before buying. Check Gear.Club Unlimited for Nintendo Switch on Nintendo’s US store or Nintendo UK’s product page.
Is Gear.Club Unlimited a simulator or an arcade racer?
It is an arcade racer with licensed cars and some adjustable performance settings, not a deep driving simulation. Jon Mundy’s Nintendo Life review described it as “an arcade racer with real cars, an approximation of authentic handling, and a few tweakable performance settings.” He found the handling accessible and grippy on short tarmac courses, with occasional slippery off-road sections. Turning off driving aids can make the driving feel more convincing and challenging, but the game remains on the casual end of the realistic-racer spectrum.

What did the reviews say?
Nintendo Life’s North American Switch review, written by Jon Mundy and published November 21, 2017, awarded Gear.Club Unlimited a Good 7/10. That is one outlet’s score from 2017, not a current critic consensus or aggregate rating.
What the review liked
- Races are quick to start and suit brief play sessions.
- Accessible handling makes the game easy to pick up.
- Car variety and a steady stream of unlocks give players reasons to keep progressing.
- Short races work well in handheld play.
What the review criticized
- AI opponents can feel predictable.
- The garage’s upgrades and menus can be fiddly, with a cursor-heavy interface.
- Collisions are forgiving rather than realistic.
- Some background textures look unattractive.
Mundy also reported that local split-screen supported up to four players and ran at a solid 30 frames per second in his review. That is his 2017 observation, not a guarantee of performance in every current setup.

Does Gear.Club Unlimited have split-screen multiplayer?
Yes. The Switch version supports local split-screen racing for up to four players on one system. Nintendo says each local player needs a compatible controller, so you may need additional controllers for a full group. Nintendo UK lists Nintendo Switch Pro Controller compatibility; a Pro Controller is an option, not a requirement unique to the game.
Can you play Gear.Club Unlimited online?
The reviewer describes an online ghost mode, not online head-to-head races. Nintendo UK lists online play and says an internet connection and Nintendo Account are required; it also notes that service may be limited by region. The available descriptions do not establish online competitive races against other players in real time.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Who should play Gear.Club Unlimited?
It is a sensible choice for Switch players who want an accessible racer, short events, car collection and tuning, or same-console multiplayer. It is less suitable if the main draw is simulation-level physics, demanding AI, realistic damage or polished menus. Players comparing it with Gran Turismo or Forza should treat it as a casual alternative rather than a substitute for those series’ simulation ambitions.
