Arc Games later announced that it became independent from Embracer through a management buyout on December 1, 2025.
Did Gearbox Publishing change its name to Arc Games?
Yes. On April 8, 2024, Gearbox Publishing San Francisco announced, “We’re very excited to announce that we are now Arc Games!” The announcement described Arc as the same team and listed games and franchises including Remnant, Have a Nice Death, Star Trek Online, Neverwinter, Gigantic: Rampage Edition and Hyper Light Breaker. The announcement was credited to Fero.

The key qualification is the name of the business: Gearbox Publishing San Francisco became Arc Games. That does not mean every company or studio called Gearbox changed its name.
Is Arc Games part of Gearbox?
Arc Games was the new name for the San Francisco publishing business, not for Gearbox Entertainment as a whole. In March 2024, Embracer described Gearbox Entertainment as the business being sold to Take-Two, while it retained Gearbox Publishing San Francisco and said that publishing business would be renamed. The distinction is set out in Embracer’s transaction announcement.

So “Gearbox” can refer to different things in these announcements: a publishing brand or business, Gearbox Entertainment, or an individual game’s publishing rights. Those are not interchangeable. A game’s association with the 2024 Arc Games announcement does not, by itself, establish who holds its rights now.
Who owns Arc Games now?
Arc Games announced on December 1, 2025, that it had become independent through a management buyout from Embracer, with financing support from XD Inc. The announcement describes a later ownership change than the 2024 rebrand; it does not change what business the Arc Games name originally referred to. See Arc Games’ announcement.

Does Arc Games still publish Remnant?
Do not infer current publishing rights from the 2024 rebrand announcement. In November 2025, Embracer said it would retain the Remnant franchise publishing rights for transfer to THQ Nordic. That later rights update is distinct from the name change and is described in Embracer’s November 2025 announcement.
For any particular game, check a dated rights or publishing announcement rather than relying on an older portfolio list. A publisher’s name, corporate owner and the rights to a franchise can change independently.
