Gears of War: E-Day launches worldwide on October 6, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC. It is included with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass at launch. When does Gears of War: E-Day release?
The worldwide launch is October 6, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. PT (15:00 UTC), according to Xbox Wire’s launch announcement. Premium Edition Early Access began October 1, up to five days before the standard launch. The game is an origin story set fourteen years before the original Gears of War, following Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago as the Locust Horde first emerges.
Which platforms can you play it on?
Xbox lists Gears of War: E-Day for Xbox Series X|S and Windows 10/11. On PC, the listed storefronts are the Microsoft Store and Steam. Xbox Wire also names cloud gaming through Game Pass Ultimate and GeForce NOW. The official platform information reviewed here does not list a PlayStation version.
The game supports Xbox Play Anywhere, which shares progression and achievements between Xbox Series X|S and PC. That feature does not itself confirm that Xbox and PC players can join the same online co-op session; the official information cited here does not settle cross-platform co-op.

Is Gears of War: E-Day included with Game Pass?
Yes. The game is included at launch, October 6, with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Premium Edition buyers had Early Access beginning October 1. Check the official Xbox product page for current membership and regional details.
Access to the game and access to online multiplayer are separate considerations. Online campaign co-op, Horde Siege, Versus, and other online multiplayer features require a Game Pass subscription tier that includes online multiplayer. Check the benefits of your specific plan rather than assuming that every plan offering access to the game also covers online play.

How does campaign co-op work?
- Solo: Play the campaign alone.
- Local co-op: Two players can play split-screen on console. Split-screen is not listed for PC.
- Online co-op: The campaign supports up to four players online, subject to the subscription requirement for online multiplayer.
Xbox’s product page describes these campaign options. The four-player limit applies to online campaign co-op; it should not be confused with the player counts for the separate multiplayer modes.
What other multiplayer modes are available?
The Coalition’s multiplayer overview says Versus modes are 4v4. Xbox Wire describes Horde Siege as a four-player PvE squad mode. These are distinct from the campaign, which supports up to four online players or two players in console split-screen. Online multiplayer features require a Game Pass tier that includes online play.
