Gears of War: Reloaded passed one million players shortly after launch, according to an announcement from the official Gears of War account on August 29, 2025. The milestone counts players, not copies sold. At the same time, a report documented complaints about the Gnasher’s range and one-shot power—but those complaints are not independent balance testing or proof of the weapon’s current state.
What does the one-million-player milestone mean?
The official Gears of War account announced the milestone on August 29, 2025, writing: “Ending the console war, one grub at a time. Thank you for 1 million players.” Windows Central reproduced the post, as did WGB.

That figure is a reported player milestone, not one million sales. Reloaded was available through multiple access routes, including subscriptions and an eligible free upgrade, so the announcement does not tell us how many people paid to acquire it.
Where could players access Reloaded?
Gears of War: Reloaded launched on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC (through Steam and Xbox PC), and PlayStation 5. Windows Central reported that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers could access the game, and that Xbox players who had bought the digital Gears of War: Ultimate Edition before Reloaded was announced received the remaster as a free upgrade.

Because the milestone has no platform breakdown, it cannot be attributed to PS5 players, Xbox players, or PC players in particular. The reports also provide no total sales figure or basis for calculating how many players converted into paying customers.
What are players saying about the Gnasher?
In an August 30, 2025 report, WGB described player complaints that the Gnasher was “far too overpowered,” including claims that it could down opponents at range with a single shot. That is a report of contemporaneous criticism—not a measured finding about weapon balance.

The available reporting does not establish whether the developers responded, whether a later patch changed the weapon, or how the Gnasher performs now. It is therefore not enough to conclude that the gun is currently overpowered; players looking for a present-day balance verdict need more recent evidence or testing.
