The headline refers to NVIDIA’s August 24, 2023 Microsoft Store integration for GeForce NOW, not a current 2026 catalog total. Contemporary coverage identified 19 Xbox/Game Pass titles that could be played through GeForce NOW by subscribers to PC Game Pass or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, provided the PC version was supported. Players who bought a supported PC copy through the Microsoft Store could use that entitlement instead.
This was PC game streaming from NVIDIA’s servers—not Xbox Cloud Gaming running inside GeForce NOW—and it never meant that every Game Pass title would work.
The 19 Xbox/Game Pass titles identified in 2023
Insider Gaming’s August 25, 2023 report listed these games as the Xbox/Game Pass additions:

The list combines Microsoft and Bethesda properties with third-party games. Strategy and management games include the Age of Empires series, Crusader Kings III, Mount & Blade II and Stellaris; survival, action and co-op choices include Grounded, No Man’s Sky, Valheim and Darktide. Cloud streaming still requires each game’s own online services, accounts and a connection with sufficiently low latency.

What NVIDIA actually launched
NVIDIA described the feature as Microsoft Store integration for select PC titles from the Game Pass catalog. A supported game runs as a Windows PC version on GeForce NOW’s remote hardware; it is not a console entitlement being streamed through Microsoft’s Xbox Cloud Gaming service. NVIDIA’s initial partnership announcement likewise promised access only to supported PC titles, not the entire Game Pass library.
For the subscription route announced in 2023, NVIDIA named:
- PC Game Pass for the game entitlement.
- Xbox Game Pass Ultimate as another qualifying route.
- A compatible GeForce NOW membership for NVIDIA’s cloud computer and streaming session.
NVIDIA also said that customers who had purchased a supported PC game through the Microsoft Store could launch it without relying on Game Pass for that title. The two services therefore supplied different things: Game Pass or a purchase supplied the right to play, while GeForce NOW supplied the remote PC.

Why “19” and “25” both appear
The number is not as clean as the headline suggests. NVIDIA’s August 24 post called its broader weekly rollout 25 new games, but the visible list mixes storefronts and categories. It includes DOOM (2016) and Trackmania, for example, without presenting them in the same Xbox/Game Pass grouping. The post also does not visibly reproduce Age of Empires: Definitive Edition in the way the 19-title report does.
That leaves two different contemporary counts:
- 19: the Xbox/Game Pass list reported by Insider Gaming.
- 25: NVIDIA’s total for the wider weekly GeForce NOW rollout, including games arriving through other storefronts or routes.
The accurate conclusion is that NVIDIA launched support for selected Microsoft Store and PC Game Pass games in August 2023, while contemporary coverage identified 19 Xbox/Game Pass titles. Neither number should be read as a permanent 2026 catalog total.
What you needed to play one
Use the PC entitlement, not just an Xbox console copy
The relevant license was a supported PC version obtained through PC Game Pass, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or the Microsoft Store. Owning an Xbox console copy did not automatically prove that the matching PC entitlement was available to GeForce NOW. A game could also appear on Steam or Epic Games Store under a similar name; the storefront selected in GeForce NOW had to match the entitlement you actually held.

General launch workflow
Menu names can change, but the original process followed this pattern:
- Sign in to the GeForce NOW app or web player.
- Link the Xbox/Microsoft account when prompted, or choose the Xbox/Microsoft Store storefront for the game.
- Search for the specific supported PC title.
- Select the Microsoft Store/Xbox version rather than a Steam or Epic listing unless you own that edition.
- Sign in to the Microsoft account that holds the Game Pass subscription or purchase.
- Confirm that the subscription or purchase is active, then start the session.
If a game is missing, check the exact PC edition, storefront selection, account, subscription status, regional availability and whether the title is still supported. Game Pass inclusion and GeForce NOW support are separate systems; a title can be in Game Pass yet absent from GeForce NOW.
What changed after the launch
In August 2024, NVIDIA added direct Xbox profile linking for automatic sign-in across devices. It also described Xbox game synchronization, which could add supported PC Game Pass and Microsoft Store games to a user’s GeForce NOW library. These later conveniences changed account handling, not the basic requirement that the game be a supported PC title.

Where GeForce NOW fits compared with other options
It can make sense when
- You use a Mac, Chromebook, low-powered Windows laptop, handheld, phone, smart TV or another supported device.
- You already pay for PC Game Pass or Ultimate and the particular game is confirmed in GeForce NOW.
- You want higher-end PC rendering without buying or upgrading a local gaming computer.
NVIDIA markets GeForce NOW across PCs, Macs, mobile devices, smart TVs, handhelds and Chromebooks, although resolution, frame rate, controller support and app/browser features depend on the device, membership tier and network.
It is a poor fit when
- The game is available only in the console Game Pass catalog.
- The title is not supported by GeForce NOW’s Microsoft Store integration.
- You expect the entire Game Pass library to appear automatically.
- You already own a capable gaming PC and do not want streaming latency or image compression.
- Your Wi-Fi is unstable, your route to a data center has high latency, or your internet plan has a restrictive data cap.
- You specifically want Microsoft’s Xbox Cloud Gaming service rather than a streamed PC version.
GeForce NOW and Xbox Cloud Gaming are separate services. GeForce NOW runs supported PC builds through NVIDIA’s infrastructure; Xbox Cloud Gaming streams supported Xbox games through Microsoft’s service. Compare the service that matches the version and ownership model you want.
Planned titles mentioned at the time
NVIDIA’s August 2023 announcement also mentioned four Gamescom-era additions planned for the fall: Alan Wake 2, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, Party Animals and PAYDAY 3. Those were forward-looking announcements, not proof of present-day availability.

It remains a useful historical snapshot of the August 2023 launch. It is not a guarantee that all 19 games are still in a Game Pass catalog, supported by GeForce NOW or available in every country or plan on September 28, 2026. Game Pass rotates titles, publishers can change rights, and GeForce NOW support can vary by region and storefront.

Before subscribing, verify the specific game in the current GeForce NOW library and confirm the live Game Pass terms for your country. If you already own the Microsoft Store PC version, check that exact listing; a console purchase should not be assumed to transfer.
Subscription and buying considerations
The subscription path can involve two recurring services: Game Pass for the entitlement and GeForce NOW for the cloud hardware. Buying a supported Microsoft Store PC copy may remove the Game Pass charge for that one game, but it does not remove any GeForce NOW membership requirement. Current prices, free-tier limits, session rules and regional plan details change, so use the official pages before paying:
If you need only one game, verify its storefront and GeForce NOW support before buying either subscription. If you want console-style Xbox streaming, evaluate Xbox Cloud Gaming instead; if your internet connection is unreliable, local hardware is generally the better solution.
