For most teams, build Kachina as an off-field Geo support: equip four-piece Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City, use Footprint of the Rainbow for a craftable DEF-focused weapon or Favonius Lance when team energy is the priority, and start with DEF% sands, a Geo DMG goblet and a CRIT circlet. Set her Energy Recharge to what the team’s rotation actually needs. On-field damage builds are a separate option, not a universal upgrade.
What Kachina does in a team
Kachina is a 4-star Geo polearm character whose Skill, “Go, Go Turbo Twirly!”, summons Turbo Twirly. Holding the Skill summons her already riding it. The Skill grants 60 Nightsoul points and puts her in Nightsoul’s Blessing; Turbo Twirly’s Geo attacks scale with her DEF and can continue while she switches to teammates. Her Burst, “Time to Get Serious!”, deals AoE Geo damage and creates a field that expands Turbo Twirly’s attack area and improves its mounted movement speed. Her usual combat pattern is to use her Skill, use her Burst when it fits the rotation, and switch to the main damage dealer. KeqingMains notes that spending extra field time riding Turbo Twirly is generally not worthwhile for the support role. Her distinctive team contribution is carrying Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City and triggering its reaction-based buff while in Nightsoul’s Blessing.
Best support artifacts and stats
Artifact set
Use four pieces of Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City when Kachina can trigger a relevant Crystallize reaction. In a support build, the set is valuable because it boosts party damage: Kachina triggers Crystallize during Nightsoul’s Blessing, helping buff Geo and one of Pyro, Hydro, Electro or Cryo. The effect is most useful when the team includes a damage dealer of a buffed element. See KeqingMains’ explanation of the support setup.

Main stats and substats

For substats, meet the team’s Energy Recharge needs first when her Burst matters to the rotation, then favor CRIT and DEF for personal damage. There is no universally correct fixed Energy Recharge target in the cited guides: it depends on the team, rotation, weapon and whether her Burst is used every rotation. Pocket Tactics’ March 22, 2026 build guide and Icy Veins’ guide both provide stat guidance without making one target universal.
When to use another set
Husk of Opulent Dreams is a reasonable choice when leaning more toward Kachina’s Geo damage. Archaic Petra can serve a reaction-support or transitional role, but its value depends on triggering Crystallize and collecting the relevant shard. These are goal-dependent alternatives rather than a single ranking that applies to every team.

Weapon lists differ across guides: Footprint of the Rainbow is often recommended for DEF, while Favonius Lance can be more useful to a team with energy needs. Team comps that make Kachina useful
Build around two questions: can the team trigger a useful Crystallize reaction, and does its carry benefit from the resulting Scroll buff or from another Geo teammate? The following are example structures, not required lineups.

Navia with reaction enablers
Pair Navia with Kachina and two teammates who support Navia while providing an element for Crystallize. Examples in Icy Veins’ team recommendations include Furina with Kokomi, or Xiangling with Bennett. Kachina supplies off-field Geo application and can hold Scroll; choose the other slots for the carry’s needs rather than copying a lineup without regard to your roster.
Itto or Noelle with Gorou
A Geo carry such as Itto or Noelle can use Kachina and Gorou as Geo teammates. Include a non-Geo character to enable Crystallize; the final slot can be defensive support or off-field damage, depending on the carry and team’s survivability needs.
An elemental carry with a Geo support slot
A Pyro, Hydro, Electro or Cryo carry can use Kachina when it benefits from the compatible Scroll buff and the team can trigger Crystallize. Mualani is one example discussed in team guides. Make sure the reaction and party buff fit the intended carry; a Geo slot is not automatically beneficial to every elemental team. More examples appear in Pocket Tactics’ team guide.

Kachina can be built for more personal Geo damage, with DEF and CRIT still relevant and alternatives such as Husk or Archaic Petra considered according to the goal. However, a Version 7.1 build page updated August 28, 2026 ranks an on-field setup using calculations derived from game data and explicitly says it did not import a play-tested ranking. That is not evidence that the setup outperforms the support build in real teams. For a support role, Scroll and off-field rotations remain the more directly applicable recommendations. The Version 7.1 page discloses its ranking method.

Key Kachina mechanics to keep in mind
- The in-game Skill talent wording reproduced by KeqingMains says that using the Skill grants 60 Nightsoul points and enters Nightsoul’s Blessing. This is a game mechanic, not a recommended stat target. KeqingMains’ guide.
- Kachina’s passive increases Geo DMG by 20% for 12 seconds after a nearby party member triggers a Nightsoul Burst, as described in Icy Veins’ guide.
- The 90% climbing-stamina reduction applies while riding Turbo Twirly in Natlan; it is an exploration benefit, not a combat-stat bonus. KeqingMains’ guide.
Recommendations can shift with game versions and account needs. The cited KQM quick guide is updated for Version 5.0, Icy Veins records a Version 6.0 update on September 27, 2025, Pocket Tactics’ page was updated March 22, 2026, and the game-data ranking page covers Version 7.1. Treat the last as a calculation-based build perspective, not a play-tested comparison; check current theorycrafting guidance when game updates change mechanics or equipment rankings.
