Platypus Reclayed has physical editions for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5: a cartridge for Switch and a disc for PS5. Their listed extras differ, so check the product page for your platform before buying. The clay-animated shoot-’em-up is a modern rebuild of Anthony Flack’s original game, and its handcrafted look gives the collectible packaging particular appeal.
What is Platypus Reclayed?
Platypus Reclayed is a clay-animation shoot-’em-up from Claymatic Games, led by original creator Anthony Flack. Nintendo describes the Switch game as rebuilt for modern hardware, with new artwork, updated gameplay, weapons and added content. Claymatic announced releases for PC, Mac, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch; Nintendo UK lists the Switch release date as 18 September 2025. Nintendo UK’s game page and Claymatic’s game page provide the platform and game details.
Flack framed the design as a deliberately direct arcade experience: “As the industry has shifted towards more complex, feature-rich, lengthier games, we wanted to go in the other direction: providing a one-button shmup that’s fun from the moment you pick it up!” The quote appears in Claymatic’s release announcement.
What comes with each physical edition?
Super Rare Games lists a Nintendo Switch cartridge edition and a PS5 disc edition. The product descriptions do not present the two packages identically:

| Edition | Physical format | Listed package contents |
|---|---|---|

See the Switch edition listing and the PS5 edition listing. The Hey Poor Player feature also describes a card pack and manual in its discussion of the physical release. Because the retailer’s edition pages specify different contents, use the live listing for the platform you intend to buy rather than assuming every extra comes in both packages.
Why the physical release stands out
The game’s clay-made visual identity is a natural fit for a physical collector’s edition: the character and world look as though they have been sculpted by hand, rather than assembled from conventional digital art. The Hey Poor Player feature highlights the package protection, collectible cards and manual, and its author describes the game as challenging and the physical edition as compelling. Those are the author’s impressions, not a separate play or packaging test.

For a game built around a clear, immediate arcade premise, a cartridge or disc also makes the edition tangible in a way a digital download is not. The physical format may appeal most to players who collect boxed games or value printed and packaged extras; the product pages, rather than the general description of the game, are the place to verify precisely what is in the box.

Availability changes. The Hey Poor Player feature, published 2 October 2026, reported that the Switch physical edition was sold out and that 30% of the PS5 edition remained at the time it was written. That is a dated stock snapshot, not a statement of present inventory. Check the Switch listing or PS5 listing directly for current status; neither that feature nor the cited product information establishes today’s price or stock.
