Its two substantial paid additions are Echoes of Sekigahara, a story expansion, and Most Wanted, a single-player combat-survival mode. In the US, the edition costs $69.99; owners of the original game can add those features for $14.99. The case for upgrading depends on how much you want more Atsu story and repeatable combat—not on the free quality-of-life features in patch 2.0.
What does Complete Edition add?
The Complete Edition includes the main game, Ghost of Yōtei Legends, Echoes of Sekigahara, Most Wanted, prior Digital Deluxe content, and the Charm of Hokkyokusei. Sony scheduled the two new paid additions for patch v.2.0 on October 1, 2026 in most territories and October 2 in some, including Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. Downloading requires an internet connection and a PlayStation account. Sony’s Complete Edition announcement has the package details.
Echoes of Sekigahara: more of Atsu’s story
Echoes is a narrative expansion that moves between the present and flashbacks to Atsu’s time on the mainland. It introduces Nagato, someone from her past, and a previously unseen valley once inhabited by The Snake and the Vipers. It is the more compelling addition if you finished the campaign wanting greater context for Atsu and her history.
Most Wanted: repeatable solo combat
Most Wanted is a single-player combat-survival mode Sucker Punch describes as its take on a roguelike. Players accept bounties to start runs, earn perks by defeating enemies, and unlock playable characters. Sony has described Atsu with dual katana, Oyuki with kusarigama, and Nagato with yari. This is the addition for players who want combat challenges to return to after the story.

Legends and edition extras
Legends is the online cooperative component, supporting up to four players; PlayStation Plus is required for online multiplayer. The Complete Edition also includes photo-mode stamps, New Game Plus cosmetics, and trophies for Echoes and Most Wanted. Legends is distinct from Most Wanted: one is online co-op, the other is single-player.
What is free in patch 2.0?
Several notable improvements arrive for all Ghost of Yōtei owners, whether or not they buy the Complete Edition upgrade. These are not reasons to pay the upgrade price.

- Watanabe Mode music: new tracks, which Sony clarified in an August 14, 2026 update are part of the free patch.
- Armor appearance controls: an option to keep one armor set’s appearance while using another set’s stats.
- High contrast: a new accessibility option.
PlayStation’s official game page also lists color alternatives, visual-comfort options, individual audio volume controls, and 3D audio. That list is not necessarily exhaustive of the in-game accessibility settings.
Is Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition worth it?
For a newcomer who wants the campaign and both new additions, yes: the Complete Edition gives you the fullest package for the same $69.99 US price as the original Standard Edition’s launch MSRP. For an owner of the original game, the $14.99 upgrade is easier to recommend if Echoes’ story or Most Wanted’s combat loop sounds appealing. If neither does, you can still enjoy the free patch improvements without buying the upgrade.

These are US prices shown in Sony’s announcement and the US PlayStation Store at the time of reporting; storefront prices and availability can change. The US PlayStation Store listing shows the Complete Edition and upgrade. Sony’s original launch MSRPs were $69.99 for Standard, $79.99 for Digital Deluxe, and $249.99 for Collector’s Edition; those are historical launch prices, not current retail quotes. No—the paid content makes the package more substantial, but does not remake the base game. Meristation’s October 2, 2026 Complete Edition review finds that Echoes adds meaningful context to Atsu’s story, while judging that the additions do not radically transform Ghost of Yōtei. That distinction matters: this is a fuller version of the same game, not a new foundation for returning players.

The base game is a standalone story set in 1600s rural Japan, following mercenary Atsu on a path of vengeance and redemption. It takes place roughly 300 years after Ghost of Tsushima; PlayStation says it is not a direct story sequel, and Jin Sakai does not appear. PlayStation’s game page outlines the setting and premise.
Tom’s Guide’s 2025 review of the base game praised its polished, cinematic presentation, Ezo’s landscapes, exploration, and exciting combat, while noting that its core open-world design feels familiar. That is a useful way to read “if it ain’t broke”: Yōtei refines a recognizable formula, and its strengths are execution and atmosphere more than radical novelty. The review predates the 2026 additions, so it should not be treated as an assessment of Echoes or Most Wanted. Read Tom’s Guide’s base-game review.

Platform and edition details to check before buying
- Platform: Ghost of Yōtei launched October 2, 2025, exclusively on PlayStation 5, with PS5 Pro support. Sony highlights DualSense haptics and adaptive triggers; the US Store marks Complete Edition “PS5 Pro Enhanced.”
- Online play: Legends requires an internet connection, and PlayStation Plus is required for online multiplayer. Most Wanted is single-player.
- Digital availability: The Complete Edition is documented as a PlayStation Store digital product. A physical PS5 copy of Ghost of Yōtei should not be assumed to include Echoes or Most Wanted; check the exact listing and edition contents.
