Échos de Sekigahara : ce que Sony annonce dans le DLC
L’extension payante doit faire alterner deux périodes de la vie d’Atsu : son passé sur le continent, pendant la bataille de Sekigahara, et son présent à Ezo. Andrew Goldfarb, Senior Communications Manager chez Sucker Punch Productions, résume le principe ainsi : « Echoes of Sekigahara is split between two periods of Atsu’s life: her time on the mainland in the massive Battle of Sekigahara, and the present day. »
L’histoire annoncée met en avant Nagato, les Vipers et Ashoro Foothills, une zone jusqu’ici inconnue. Sony indique également que l’extension ajoutera de nouveaux types d’ennemis, des armes lourdes, des récits mythiques, des capacités, des armures et des éléments cosmétiques.
Cette liste décrit le contenu prévu, pas sa qualité ni son ampleur réelle. Sony n’a pas communiqué de durée confirmée dans les informations disponibles ici. Il est donc impossible d’affirmer que l’aventure est longue, que ses nouveautés renouvellent suffisamment les combats, ou que le prix demandé est justifié sans évaluation après jeu.

Sony annonce aussi des ajouts gratuits pour tous les propriétaires de Ghost of Yōtei, distincts du contenu narratif payant :
- Le mode Beauty of Yōtei.
- De nouvelles pistes pour le Watanabe Mode.
- Une option permettant de dissocier l’apparence d’une armure de ses statistiques.
- Un réglage d’accessibilité à contraste élevé.
La séparation entre le DLC et ces nouveautés gratuites permet de répondre clairement à la question « Ghost of Yōtei : Échos de Sekigahara, gratuit ou payant ? » : l’extension narrative est payante ; les ajouts cités ci-dessus sont annoncés comme gratuits pour les propriétaires du jeu. Les annonces décrivent une extension avec un récit qui traverse deux périodes, un lieu inédit et plusieurs catégories de nouveautés de combat et d’équipement. Elles donnent une base pour comprendre ce qui est proposé, mais pas pour établir si l’extension est « maîtrisée » ou si son prix est raisonnable.
