Short answer: Digital Trends reported two Gigabyte Aorus gaming-laptop discounts at Amazon on March 26, 2025: the Aorus 15X at $1,430, down from $1,899, and the Aorus 17 at $1,399, down from $1,749. Amazon’s Big Spring Sale was scheduled to end on March 31, 2025, so those prices should be treated as historical—not as a live September 2026 deal.
The Aorus 15X was the better choice for portability and CPU-heavy work. The Aorus 17 offered a larger built-in screen for desk-based gaming. Before buying either today, check the exact listing, seller, condition, warranty, and current price against newer gaming laptops.
The two Gigabyte Aorus deals reported by Digital Trends
The original headline referred to a limited Amazon promotion, not a current or brand-wide Gigabyte sale. Digital Trends reported the following prices during Amazon’s 2025 Big Spring Sale:
| Model | Reported price | Comparison price | Reported discount | Core configuration | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gigabyte Aorus 15X | $1,430 | $1,899 | 24.7% off | 15.6-inch QHD, Core i9-13980HX, RTX 4070, 16GB RAM | Portability and higher CPU headroom |
| Gigabyte Aorus 17 | $1,399 | $1,749 | 20% off | 17.3-inch QHD, Core i7-13700H, RTX 4070, 16GB RAM | Large-screen gaming at a desk |
These prices, specifications, and the March 31, 2025 sale deadline come from Digital Trends’ original deal report. The reported comparison prices are retailer reference prices; the source does not establish that either laptop consistently sold at those amounts before the promotion.

Was the “save over 20%” headline accurate?
It was only partly precise. The Aorus 15X was reported at 24.7% off, which is more than 20%. The Aorus 17 was reported at exactly 20% off, not over 20%.
The wording also does not mean that every Gigabyte gaming laptop was discounted. The cited article covered two Aorus models tied to Amazon’s Big Spring Sale. Because that promotion ended in March 2025, the headline is now best understood as a historical deal reference.
Gigabyte Aorus 15X: the performance-and-portability option
The Aorus 15X paired a 15.6-inch 2560×1440 display with an Intel Core i9-13980HX processor, Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 graphics, and 16GB of memory. Digital Trends reported that it weighed under six pounds, making it the easier of the two machines to carry.
Its biggest hardware advantage was the processor. The Core i9-13980HX is a higher-tier mobile chip than the Aorus 17’s Core i7-13700H, so it is the more attractive configuration for CPU-heavy applications such as compiling, rendering, large projects, and demanding multitasking. That advantage does not automatically translate into better gaming performance, however. Games may be limited more by the GPU’s power limit, cooling system, resolution, or thermal behavior than by the difference between these processors.
The 15X makes the most sense if you:
- Travel with your laptop regularly.
- Want a smaller chassis without giving up an RTX 4070.
- Plan to use an external monitor at home.
- Run CPU-heavy work in addition to games.
- Would pay only a modest premium over the Aorus 17 for the stronger processor and lighter form factor.
The original Amazon destination for the Aorus 15X was Amazon product listing B0CC3W59JB. The available evidence does not verify its current price, inventory, seller, condition, or exact present-day configuration.
Gigabyte Aorus 17: the large-screen option
The Aorus 17 used a larger 17.3-inch 2560×1440 display with a Core i7-13700H, RTX 4070, and 16GB of RAM. Digital Trends described its weight as slightly above six pounds.

- Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX Processor – AORUS MASTER 18 is powered by the latest Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor that provides desktop-tier gaming performance on the go with extra overclocking headrooms. The new-generation NPU can handle longer-running AI workloads at superior power efficiency.

- Glow In Darkness with 5 ° Black Color and NIL Craftsmanship – AORUS MASTER 18 showcases the most extreme black in the laptop industry: 5 ° Black. By utilizing the special painting and adjusting the gloss levels, AORUS MASTER 18 has achieved a black that is twice as deep as standard manufacturing process, with a visual effect that appears to absorb light. By using 12-layer nanoimprint Lithography (NIL) technology optical lamination, the material refracts light at different angles like a crystal. Break the rules, define your own future. Silicon-grade craftsmanship exquisitely glows in multilayer.
The larger display is its defining benefit. A 17.3-inch panel gives games, timelines, spreadsheets, and other desktop work more physical space without requiring an external monitor. That makes the Aorus 17 a sensible choice for someone who primarily plays at a desk and values immersion more than easy transport.
Choose the Aorus 17 when:
- You want the largest built-in screen.
- The laptop will spend most of its life on a desk.
- It is meaningfully cheaper than a comparable Aorus 15X.
- The Core i7-13700H is sufficient for your games and applications.
- You accept the additional size and weight.
The trade-off is not simply screen size. The Aorus 17 has the lower-tier CPU, is less convenient to carry, and may offer no meaningful gaming advantage over the 15X because both reported configurations use an RTX 4070. The original article’s Amazon link should be opened from the Digital Trends deal page, but its current listing and price were not verified in the supplied research.

Both reported laptops included an RTX 4070, which places them in a capable higher-midrange gaming category for their generation. They should be able to run many modern games at good settings, particularly at 1440p with appropriate use of features such as DLSS and frame generation.
That is a hardware-based assessment, not a benchmark result. No independent testing was provided for these exact listings, so there is no verified claim here about frame rates, fan noise, temperatures, battery life, display brightness, or color coverage.
Laptop RTX 4070 performance can vary substantially according to:
- The GPU’s maximum graphics power or wattage.
- Cooling capacity and sustained thermal limits.
- Game engine and graphics settings.
- Native QHD resolution versus upscaling.
- Whether DLSS or frame generation is enabled.
- Memory configuration and storage speed.
- Whether the laptop is connected to AC power.
For that reason, do not assume that any laptop labeled “RTX 4070” performs like every other RTX 4070 laptop. Check the listing and, where possible, the manufacturer’s detailed specifications.

Are these still good buys in 2026?
The reported processors—the Core i9-13980HX and Core i7-13700H—are older-generation mobile CPUs by September 2026. The RTX 4070 configurations may still be useful, but a discount on older hardware is not automatically a bargain.
Compare the current asking price with newer laptops using RTX 5060-, RTX 5070-, or comparable contemporary graphics hardware. A newer model with a smaller headline discount may offer better efficiency, features, firmware support, warranty availability, or overall value. Also compare current Lenovo Legion, Asus ROG or TUF, Acer Nitro or Predator, HP Omen, and Dell or Alienware configurations at the same live price. No current prices were verified for those alternatives here, so none should be called a better deal without a fresh comparison.
If portability is not important, a desktop paired with a monitor may also deliver more gaming performance per dollar. Conversely, neither Aorus laptop should be bought primarily for all-day battery use: gaming laptops generally provide their best performance while plugged in.
Is the Amazon deal still live?
It cannot be confirmed from the supplied evidence. The promotion reported by Digital Trends was scheduled to end March 31, 2025. Amazon product pages can also change sellers, prices, stock status, condition, included accessories, and configuration after a deal article is published.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Do not treat the old $1,430 or $1,399 figures as current prices. A live-deal article should include the actual price, stock status, seller, condition, and the date and time checked. If those details are unavailable, the responsible conclusion is that this is an expired historical deal rather than an active offer.
Ten checks to make before ordering
- Confirm the exact model number. “Aorus 15X” and “Aorus 17” are product families, and configurations can differ.
- Match the display. Verify the screen size and 2560×1440 resolution rather than relying on the product title.
- Check GPU power. Look for the RTX 4070’s maximum graphics power or wattage.
- Inspect the memory layout. Confirm whether 16GB uses two modules or a single stick, and check upgradeability.
- Confirm SSD capacity. A 512GB drive can fill quickly after installing several large games.
- Check who sells and ships it. The seller may differ from the retailer or from the seller in the original deal.
- Verify condition. Make sure the listing says new if that is what you intend to buy, rather than renewed, used, or warehouse condition.
- Read warranty details. Confirm coverage and whether service is handled by Gigabyte, Amazon, or a third party.
- Review returns. Check the deadline, exclusions, and any restocking or return-shipping terms.
- Confirm delivery and final price. Availability, taxes, shipping, and delivery dates can depend on your ZIP code.
Which one should you choose?
Choose the Aorus 15X if its current price is reasonable and you value the stronger CPU, lighter chassis, or use of an external monitor. Historically, it also had the larger reported discount: 24.7% versus 20% for the Aorus 17.

Choose the Aorus 17 if the larger 17.3-inch QHD display is your priority, you mostly play at a desk, and it is substantially cheaper than the 15X or comparable newer hardware.
Skip both if the current price is close to newer-generation laptops, the listing is renewed or sold by an unfamiliar third party, the warranty is unclear, the machine has unsuitable memory or storage, or you need strong unplugged battery life or a color-accurate creative-work display.

Was the Gigabyte Aorus sale actually over 20% off?
The Aorus 15X was reported at 24.7% off. The Aorus 17 was reported at exactly 20% off, so the “over 20%” wording applies only to the 15X.
Which Aorus laptop was better?
The Aorus 15X was the better portability and CPU-performance choice. The Aorus 17 was better for buyers who wanted a larger built-in display and mostly used the laptop at a desk.
Should I buy one of these laptops in 2026?
Not solely because of the March 2025 discount. Verify the current listing and compare its price with newer-generation gaming laptops before ordering.
The Bottom Line
The Aorus 15X was the stronger historical deal and the more versatile choice; the Aorus 17 traded CPU and portability for a larger screen. But Amazon’s reported promotion ended March 31, 2025, and neither laptop should be presented as a live September 2026 bargain without fresh listing verification.
