- The application was moved to another drive or restored from a backup: return it to its original folder structure or reinstall it.
- The message says “specified module could not be found”:
glsps.dllmay be present while one of its dependencies is missing. - The program is old and 32-bit: make sure you are using the matching 32-bit release, even on 64-bit Windows.
- Several Windows components are failing: run DISM and SFC, but do not expect them to recreate this private third-party DLL.

Microsoft does not ship glsps.dll as a normal Windows component. Windows Update, DirectX, .NET, a graphics driver, and the standard Windows system folders should not be assumed to provide it.
Fix 1: Identify and repair the application that requested it
This is the most likely solution because private DLLs normally belong beside the executable or plug-in that loads them.
Find the requesting program
Start with the title bar and the complete error message. Look for:
- The name of the audio host or game
- A plug-in name
- The executable named in an event or crash dialog
- The folder shown in the error
- Whether the error appears when Windows starts, when the host opens, or only when loading a saved project
If the error appears only when opening an old project, the missing file may belong to a plug-in used by that project rather than to the host itself.
Search the application folders, but do not move anything yet:
- Press Windows key + E.
- Check the program’s installation folder.
- Look in the host’s plug-in folders and any old authorization or support folders.
- Note whether
glsps.dllexists beside the program that reports the error. - If you find multiple copies, record their full paths and do not replace one with another.
A copy in the requesting application’s own folder is more meaningful than a copy found in System32 or SysWOW64. Microsoft documents that Windows searches the application directory as part of normal DLL loading through its DLL search order.
Use Windows application repair
For a modern installer that supports repair:
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Select Installed apps.
- Find the application named in the error.
- Select the three-dot menu.
- Choose Advanced options.
- Select Repair, if available.
- Restart Windows.
- Launch the application and reproduce the action that caused the error.
Repair worked if the program starts and the same project or plug-in loads without the message. If the error remains, use the program’s original installer or legitimate publisher support channel to reinstall it completely. For an old application without a repair button:
- Back up projects, presets, license files, and custom plug-ins.
- Uninstall the affected application from Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Restart Windows.
- Run the original installer as an administrator.
- Install the host and its plug-ins into the intended folder structure.
- Reapply the application’s legitimate authorization process.
- Restart again and test before restoring optional plug-ins.
Do not delete an old installation folder until you have backed up your projects and confirmed that you still have the installer and authorization details.

Fix 2: Check Windows Security Protection history
Antivirus software may remove or quarantine an old unsigned DLL. That does not prove the file is malicious, and it does not prove it is safe. Because the publisher and official distribution source for glsps.dll are not verified, restore it only when you can establish that it came from the application’s original installer.
Check the quarantine record:
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.

- Select Properties.
- Open the Details tab and record what is shown.
- If the vendor’s installer offers separate builds, install the build matching the host and plug-in architecture.
Do not assume that a 64-bit version of the host can use a 32-bit plug-in. If the application was upgraded from 32-bit to 64-bit, reinstall the compatible plug-in release or use the vendor’s supported bridge if one exists.
Windows uses SysWOW64 for many 32-bit system components on 64-bit systems, but that does not make it the correct home for an application DLL. Microsoft explains the architecture rules in Running 32-bit Applications and the folder behavior in its file system redirector documentation.
Fix 4: Check whether a dependency is actually missing
The message “Error loading glsps.dll. The specified module could not be found” can be misleading. Windows may have found glsps.dll but failed to load another DLL that it depends on.
This is especially possible after:
- Moving an old application to another drive
- Restoring only part of an installation
- Removing an old audio host
- Cleaning up shared runtimes
- Loading a plug-in from a different folder
- Mixing files from different releases
The safest dependency repair is a complete reinstall of the owning host or plug-in from its original installer. Do not download individual runtime DLLs based only on the error text.

If the installer documentation explicitly requires a Microsoft runtime, obtain that runtime from Microsoft and use the architecture matching the application. Installing random runtime files beside the program can create a second, harder-to-diagnose version conflict.
Fix 5: Do not copy glsps.dll into System32 or SysWOW64
Copying a DLL into C:WindowsSystem32, C:WindowsSysWOW64, or both is not a general repair. It can cause Windows to load the wrong version, hide the real application problem, and expose the system to an unverified file.
For an ordinary unpackaged application, the private DLL normally belongs in the application’s directory or in the specific plug-in directory expected by that product. Restore the original folder structure through the application’s installer instead.
If you already copied a downloaded file into a Windows folder:
- Remove the unverified copy only after confirming the affected application is closed.
- Run a Windows Security scan.
- Reinstall the owning application from a trusted original source.
- Test the application from its normal shortcut.
Do not overwrite a file in a Windows folder merely because its name matches.
Fix 6: Skip regsvr32 unless the vendor specifically requires registration
regsvr32 is not a general DLL repair command. It is used for DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer, commonly for certain ActiveX or COM components.
There is no verified evidence that glsps.dll is an ActiveX or COM server. Running either of these commands is therefore not a sensible first repair:
regsvr32 glsps.dll
regsvr32 /u glsps.dll
Those commands do not recreate a missing file, repair a damaged installation, or install missing dependencies. Use registration only when the original application’s documentation explicitly instructs you to register that particular file, from the correct application folder and with the correct system architecture. Fix 7: Repair Windows components only when Windows itself is damaged
DISM and SFC repair protected Windows components. They are useful when Windows has broader corruption, but they normally will not restore a private third-party glsps.dll.
Open an elevated terminal:
- Open Start.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Select Yes at the User Account Control prompt.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Wait for it to finish, then run:
sfc /scannow
Restart Windows after both commands complete. Test the affected application again.
Success means DISM or SFC reports that corruption was repaired and other Windows symptoms improve. If the application still reports glsps.dll, return to the application repair and reinstall steps. Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC.
Manually repeating these commands can be slow when you are unsure what changed. Fix 8: Review drivers and recent hardware changes
A graphics or audio driver does not normally supply glsps.dll, but a driver update can expose an old application’s compatibility problem. If the error began immediately after changing an audio interface, graphics driver, chipset package, or Windows device, review that change rather than assuming the DLL belongs to the driver.
To inspect a device:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Sound, video and game controllers for audio hardware.
- Expand Display adapters for graphics hardware.
- Right-click the affected device.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Driver tab.
- Check the driver date and provider.
- Use Roll Back Driver only if it is available and the problem began after that update.
- Otherwise, obtain the correct driver from the hardware manufacturer’s official support page.
Do not install a driver simply because its installer mentions DLL files. The driver and glsps.dll are separate troubleshooting tracks.
Manually checking several hardware vendors and matching driver versions is tedious when multiple devices are involved. Fix 9: Use System Restore for a recent system change
If glsps.dll worked until a specific installation, cleanup operation, or system change, System Restore may return Windows and installed programs to an earlier state.
- Open Start.
- Type Create a restore point.
- Open the result.
- Select System Restore.
- Choose an appropriate restore point.
- Select Scan for affected programs.
- Review the applications and drivers that will be removed or restored.
- Confirm only if the impact is acceptable.
- Let Windows restart and complete the process.
System Restore does not normally remove personal documents, but it can remove recently installed applications or drivers. Microsoft lists this and other recovery choices in its Windows recovery options.
Prevention and safe verification
Once the application starts again:
- Keep the complete installer and legitimate license information with your project backups.
- Do not move individual DLLs between installations.
- Keep 32-bit hosts paired with their intended 32-bit plug-ins.
- Record the full path of application DLLs before deleting an old installation.
- Check Protection history before allowing a quarantined file.
- Keep old projects and plug-in installers separate from temporary downloads.
- Do not use a DLL solely because its filename, reported size, or version appears to match.
- Check whether the application is still supported on your version of Windows.
If you have a copy of glsps.dll from an original installer, you can inspect its Properties dialog for a digital signature and compare its hash with a trusted original. A missing signature does not automatically prove malware, but an unknown source means the file should not be restored blindly.
