Gray Zone Warfare’s Steam-hosted EULA identifies Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) as its anti-cheat system. It describes monitoring of system processes and game files for cheating software and unauthorized modifications, but MADFINGER does not publish the precise detection rules or evidence behind individual bans. The EULA also explains prohibited conduct and how to appeal a ban believed to be mistaken.

What anti-cheat does Gray Zone Warfare use?

The game’s Steam-hosted EULA, attributed to MADFINGER Games, names Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC). The reviewed official materials do not identify BattlEye as the game’s anti-cheat.

The EULA says EAC runs with the game and monitors system processes and game files to detect cheating software and unauthorized modifications. It says that monitoring may involve memory and file-system interactions. Data necessary to identify cheating may include system specifications, unique hardware identifiers, and in-game interactions. These are descriptions in the EULA, not a case-by-case account of what was collected, how long data is retained, or what caused a particular enforcement decision.

How does Gray Zone Warfare detect cheats?

MADFINGER’s March 18, 2026 developer devlog said, “Update 0.4 will improve wallhack detection and banning.” The studio also said it could not share specific details to avoid giving cheat developers an advantage, and that further improvements were planned. This describes a development goal, not the implementation, a detection threshold, or proof of why any individual player was banned. Read the official Update 0.4 devlog.

Public official sources reviewed do not state internal detection thresholds, confidence levels, a complete evidence standard for bans, or a full penalty ladder. There is also no published total for all cheater bans, false-positive rate, or measured anti-cheat effectiveness statistic in these sources.

What can result in a suspension or ban?

The EULA prohibits cheating, exploit abuse, unauthorized third-party software, and unauthorized modifications. Its examples include aimbots, wallhacks, speedhacks, resource hacking, and macros that automate actions beyond human speed. It also says that disabling or interfering with EAC may lead to penalties, including suspension or a ban. The reviewed sources do not provide a whitelist of overlays, macros, controller utilities, RGB software, or other third-party tools, so they cannot establish that a particular program is safe to use.

Documented exploit enforcement

In a September 18, 2026 security report, MADFINGER described an item-duplication exploit that occurred under specific circumstances involving death by helicopter during the Update 0.4 cycle. The publisher said a later hotfix fixed the issue and made it no longer replicable. It reported that some users used duplicated resources for unfair advantage, including repeatedly buying and using large quantities of mortar strikes against other players.

After investigating, MADFINGER said it had identified close to 40 accounts that deliberately exploited the issue and announced temporary suspensions and account wipes. “Close to 40” is the publisher’s approximate count for this incident—not an exact figure or a total count of cheater bans. The report does not disclose player identities, the penalty assigned to each account, or the precise evidence reviewed.

How to appeal a Gray Zone Warfare ban

The EULA directs players to the game’s official support section and instructs them to submit an appeal through the official website. It asks players to explain clearly why they believe the ban is mistaken and include relevant supporting details. The listed examples include account name, ban date, timestamps, screenshots, logs, chat histories, video captures, and other relevant files.

  1. Open the official Gray Zone Warfare support section and submit an appeal through the official website, following its current form and instructions.
  2. Identify the account and ban date, then explain why you believe the decision was mistaken.
  3. Include relevant evidence, such as timestamps, screenshots, logs, chat history, or video captures.
  4. Keep the account email current, respond to any follow-up questions, and watch for the response by email.

The EULA gives a typical review estimate of 7–14 days, depending on case complexity and appeal volume. That is an estimate, not a guaranteed response time. It says that if a ban is found to be a false positive, the ban will be lifted and the account reinstated; it does not predict the outcome of any particular appeal.

What the public information does—and does not—establish

  • Established: The EULA names EAC, describes monitoring at a high level, and lists prohibited conduct and possible sanctions.
  • Established: MADFINGER has described plans to improve wallhack detection and has reported one investigated exploit case with temporary suspensions and account wipes.
  • Not established: The exact rules that trigger detection, the evidence behind an individual ban, the full sanction policy, or whether a specific third-party utility is permitted.

The EULA and support instructions can change. For current appeal directions, consult the game’s official support section rather than relying on an old form or an estimate as a service guarantee.
