The Rat Connoisseur was a limited Cooking Event NPC reported in August 2025. Players cooked food containing mutations, handed a dish to the rat, and chose one reward from three displayed options. Its September 2026 availability, location, reward odds, and mechanics are not confirmed, so treat the instructions and percentages below as historical guide information and check the live game interface first.
How do I get rewards from the Rat Connoisseur?
Historical August 2025 guides described this process:
- Harvest ingredients with mutations and use them in the cooking system.
- Collect the finished dish.
- Find the Rat Connoisseur (also called the Food Connoisseur in some guides) and interact while holding the mutated food.
- Choose the submission prompt. Beebom reported the wording as “Try this food I cooked up!”
- Choose one item from the three rewards shown on the reward screen.
The NPC was tied to the Cooking Event and was reported added on August 9, 2025. No current developer announcement establishes that this event NPC is still active in September 2026.
Where was the Rat Connoisseur?
August 2025 guides placed the NPC at the center of the map or beside the cooking pot. Because the event was limited and no current official location is documented, use those spots only as historical reference. If the NPC is live on your server, the current quest marker or interaction prompt should take priority over an old guide.

How do I make mutated food in Grow a Garden?
Cook with harvested ingredients that already have mutations, then collect the resulting dish before interacting with the NPC. Guides described a mutation meter that affects whether a mutation carries into the cooked food, but they disagree on the guaranteed threshold:
- Beebom reported that a meter above 80% guarantees mutation carryover.
- Pro Game Guides reported that 60% or higher guarantees carryover.
These figures cannot be reconciled from the available reporting. If the Rat Connoisseur or cooking event is available, follow the percentage and guarantee language displayed in your current game UI rather than assuming either historical threshold is still valid.

What were the Rat Connoisseur rewards?
The reported reward screen offered three choices, not one guaranteed fixed prize. The lists below are published August 2025 guide odds, not verified September 2026 probabilities. Percentages were listed independently, so they should not be added together or treated as mutually exclusive outcomes. Conflicting values are shown instead of being merged.
| Reward | Reported chance | Source agreement and status |
|---|---|---|
| Gourmet Egg | 50% | Beebom and Followchain agree; historical only |
| Kitchen Crate | 50% (Followchain); 30% (Beebom and Pro Game Guides) | Conflicting historical reports; current value unconfirmed |
| Gourmet Seed Pack | 50% | Beebom and Followchain agree; historical only |
| Culinarian Chest | 40% | Beebom and Followchain agree; historical only |
| Spring Onion / Spring Onion Seed | 30% | Beebom and Followchain agree; historical only |
| Cooking Cauldron | 30% | Beebom and Followchain agree; historical only |
| Kitchen Flooring | 30% | Beebom and Followchain agree; historical only |
| Sunny-Side Chicken | 30% | Beebom and Followchain agree; historical only |
| Kitchen Cart | 20% | Beebom and Followchain agree; historical only |
| Pet Mutation Shard Aromatic / Pet Shard Aromatic | 20% | Beebom and Followchain agree; historical only |
| Smoothie Fountain | 15% | Beebom and Followchain agree; historical only |
| Butternut Squash | 10% (Beebom); 8% (Followchain) | Conflicting historical reports; current value unconfirmed |
| Pricklefruit | 8% (Beebom); 5% (Followchain) | Conflicting historical reports; current value unconfirmed |
| Gorilla Chef | 5% | Beebom and Followchain agree; historical only |
| Bitter Melon | 5% (Beebom); 3% (Followchain) | Conflicting historical reports; current value unconfirmed |
Beebom’s table supplied the 50% Gourmet Egg and Gourmet Seed Pack figures, 40% Culinarian Chest figure, and 5% Gorilla Chef figure. The disagreement over Kitchen Crate, Butternut Squash, Pricklefruit, and Bitter Melon means no single uncontested historical table exists.

What was Kitchen Storm?
Pro Game Guides described submissions to Chris as filling a server-wide progress bar, with higher-rarity food adding more points. When the bar filled, Kitchen Storm reportedly doubled cooking speed and increased mutation chances. Beebom additionally described stronger mutation carryover and an Aromatic effect that could apply to crops.
Those effects were reported as Cooking Event behavior in August 2025, not as permanent mechanics. They should not be expected in the current game unless the live event UI confirms them.

How should you use the old reward odds?
- Use the reward list to recognize items that appeared in historical guides, not to calculate a current expected value.
- Do not rank rewards by “best” item without current trading or progression data.
- When three choices appear, compare the actual options on your screen and select one; the historical system did not grant all three.
- If no NPC, cooking prompt, or event meter appears, the limited event may no longer be active on that server or version.
Current status in September 2026
No official current game page or live developer source confirms the Rat Connoisseur’s availability, location, reward table, or mutation threshold for September 2026. The available information comes from secondary August 2025 guides and a community wiki, including the NPC line, “I’m the Rat Connoisseur… Give me mutated foods, and I’ll let you choose a nice reward!” Verify every mechanic in-game before spending rare mutated ingredients.
