Rockstar’s current platforms and editions support page, last updated August 18, 2026, also lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S for preorder. The official pages cited here do not establish a PC launch platform or date; that does not mean Rockstar has ruled out a PC version in the future.
Rockstar says the extended look announced on August 27 was captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5. That describes the footage source, not a separate platform or a claim that every version will look identical.

What is GTA 6 about?
Rockstar’s official synopsis follows Jason and Lucia after an easy score goes wrong. The pair become caught up in a criminal conspiracy across the state of Leonida and must rely on one another to survive. Rockstar frames Leonida as “the sunniest place in America” and describes the story as unfolding on the darkest side of it.
That is the confirmed premise, rather than a full plot outline. Rockstar’s official GTA VI page links the first and second trailers and the August 2026 extended look, but the official materials cited here do not settle the complete map, every explorable location, or detailed story events beyond the synopsis.

Which editions and formats can you buy?
Rockstar names two editions, Standard and Ultimate, and offers both digitally. Its physical option is the Standard Edition in a code-in-box package: the box contains a download code, not a disc.
| Choice | What Rockstar confirms |
|---|---|
| Standard Edition, digital | Available for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. |
| Ultimate Edition, digital | Available for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. |
| Standard Edition, physical | Code-in-box package with a download code; no disc. Rockstar says physical copies are expected to be available for shipping or pickup starting November 12, 2026, to support preload. |
Rockstar Support says a Standard Edition owner can purchase the Ultimate Edition Upgrade through the PlayStation or Microsoft store after redeeming the Standard Edition code. Edition contents beyond those details should be checked on the applicable store page; the official support details cited here do not list a complete breakdown of Ultimate Edition extras.

What are the preorder bonuses and preload dates?
Rockstar says digital preorders and purchases made before November 20, 2026 include the listed Vintage Vice City Pack preorder bonuses and one month of GTA+. The Rockstar Store listing also advertises the Vintage Vice City Pack for orders before that date. Check the applicable PlayStation, Xbox, or Rockstar Store listing for exact eligibility and terms, which may depend on format and storefront.
- Physical copies: expected to be available for shipping or pickup starting November 12, 2026, so buyers can preload.

Can a GTA 6 code have region restrictions?
Yes. Rockstar warns that activation can depend on the region associated with the platform account. It recommends buying and playing through a retailer in the country associated with that account to avoid activation problems.
Rockstar states that Xbox codes are not region-locked. PlayStation codes are grouped by purchase region and eligible account country, so check the current country list on Rockstar’s support page before buying a code from another region.

In its August 2026 announcement, Rockstar listed Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Mature Humor, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, and Use of Drugs and Alcohol. Rockstar also identifies in-game purchases. These are the publisher’s content descriptors, not a substitute for the final rating information shown in your region’s store.
Is there a GTA 6 album?
Rockstar’s official-site listing announced Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album for November 19, 2026, in a post dated September 17, 2026. The listing available here does not establish its track list, format, participating artists, or streaming partner, so none of those details can yet be confirmed from that announcement.
