A Safehouse in the Hills launched in GTA Online on December 10, 2025. It added three customizable mansion properties, five KnoWay Out story missions, new vehicles, and a Mission Creator. Rockstar’s official update notes do not confirm the claim that Michael De Santa returns, so that part of the original headline remains unverified.
When did the mansion update arrive?
Rockstar listed GTA Online: A Safehouse in the Hills as available on December 10, 2025—not as a release still due this week. The update is Title Update 1.72. Rockstar’s Newswire index gives the release date, and its Title Update 1.72 notes describe the content.
Does Michael De Santa return?
The official announcement and update notes cited here do not mention Michael De Santa. They therefore do not establish whether he appears in a mission or otherwise returns. The claim should not be treated as confirmed based on those sources.
What does A Safehouse in the Hills add?
The update introduces three customizable mansions available through the in-game Prix Luxury Real Estate website, alongside missions, vehicles, and a tool for creating and publishing missions. Rockstar’s notes cover PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC editions; some features and challenges are limited to particular newer platforms or editions.

Mansion amenities and practical features
Rockstar lists a broad set of mansion features, mixing social and cosmetic spaces with business and vehicle utility:
- An AI Assistant that can boost business production, provide fast travel, and host parties.
- A Master Control Terminal.
- A Media Room, Spa, Cigar Room, Salon, and trophy cabinets.
- Gym equipment and yoga mats, plus a rooftop helipad.
- A garage with space for 20 vehicles.
- A private Nightclub and personal Vault.
- Purchasable cats and dogs, with optional security staff.
Optional rooms include an Armory, Arcade, Vehicle Podium, and Vehicle Workshop. GTA+ members with the workshop can access specified vehicle-modification options. The notes do not establish property-by-property differences or say that every feature is available in the same way on every platform.

Missions and Mission Creator
The update adds five KnoWay Out story missions for one to four players. Its Mission Creator lets players create and publish missions; Rockstar’s notes also list five example missions for the Creator.
What came after the mansion launch?
A later Kortz Center Heist update tied a new heist to the mansion Art Studio: players must own a mansion and purchase its Art Studio through Prix Luxury Real Estate. The heist has Prep Missions and a Finale, supports one to four players, and can be started from the Art Studio Planning Board or by calling Raf De Angelis in Freemode. A subsequent patch added entry to owned mansions using requested Luxury Vehicles.

Can you choose a mansion based on its features or price?
Rockstar’s cited update notes confirm three properties but do not provide enough property-by-property information to recommend one or establish their prices. Check the current listings in Prix Luxury Real Estate in-game before deciding; availability and pricing can change.
What do you need to play?
You need Grand Theft Auto V to access GTA Online; the mansion content is part of the online game, not a separate mansion-update purchase. Which features are available can depend on platform and edition.

Are the launch bonuses still available?
Rockstar’s 2025 announcement described a GTA$1,000,000 New Listings mission reward, a GTA$2,000,000 discount on forthcoming mansion properties, and a Black Rockstar Varsity Crewneck. Those were historical promotion details, not evidence that the offers remain available. Check current in-game notices for any active rewards or discounts.
