GTA V’s built-in cheat codes work in Story Mode, not GTA Online. Enter a controller sequence on PlayStation or Xbox, type a command on PC, or use the in-game phone number where supported. Cheats temporarily disable achievements, though Rockstar says you can still save.
Most-used GTA V cheat codes
These commands and phone numbers are documented by PC Gamer’s cross-platform guide and, for the PS5 and PS4 phone codes, Vandal’s PlayStation guide. Use phone numbers with the in-game dial pad.

How to enter cheats on each platform
PlayStation: PS5 and PS4
Enter the button sequence during Story Mode, using the D-pad for directional inputs and pressing the buttons quickly in order. Alternatively, open the in-game phone and dial the number. Vandal’s guide says PS5 and PS4 use the same 34 Story Mode gameplay cheats; that count is scoped to its guide and those platforms.
Xbox: Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One
Enter the Xbox button sequence shown in PC Gamer’s platform tables. The in-game phone is another documented method for many cheats. Do not substitute a PlayStation sequence: controller inputs differ between platforms.

PC
In Story Mode, open the command console with the tilde key—the key immediately left of 1 on many keyboards—type the command word, then press Enter. Phone entry is also an option. Keyboard layouts vary, so if tilde does not open the console, check your layout’s key immediately left of 1.
PlayStation button sequences
Vandal lists the following PS5 and PS4 Story Mode sequences. Enter each sequence quickly, using the D-pad for directions.

For other effects, use Vandal’s full PS5/PS4 controller and phone tables or PC Gamer’s cross-platform tables. The PC command word is not a console button code.

- Player and health: health and armor, invincibility, and special-ability recharge.
- Weapons: weapon and ammunition grants, plus explosive and incendiary effects.
- Wanted level: raise or lower the police pursuit level.
- Movement: super jump, parachute, and slow motion.
- World effects: weather changes and other gameplay effects.
- Vehicle spawns: vehicles including the Buzzard and BMX.
There is no GTA V money cheat listed in the PS5/PS4 or cross-platform guides. Do not rely on purported money-code lists.

Rockstar Games Customer Support’s cheat-code support article, last updated April 28, 2024, says: “Saving is allowed when cheat codes are enabled but achievements are temporarily disabled.” Rockstar adds that entering the same code twice will usually, but not always, disable the cheat.

- Some cheats cannot be activated in particular gameplay areas. Rockstar says the game may show: “Cheat Denied: Cannot activate that cheat right now.”
- Starting a mission with off-mission cheats enabled disables those cheats.
- Reloading a save or rebooting the console resets all cheats.
- PC Gamer says cheats work in Story Mode outside missions and that a new save must reach the open world. Rockstar’s support guidance likewise confirms that availability can depend on the current gameplay situation.
For platform support and current editions, Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V Support page lists PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC Enhanced/Legacy. It does not provide cheat codes.
