If Halo Infinite will not launch, gets stuck entering Campaign, or opens but cannot load Multiplayer menus, the right fix depends on where it fails. Check for a service outage first, then update or repair the game through the platform where it is installed. Use the targeted Steam, security-software, or Xbox steps below only when they match your symptom.
1. Check whether Halo or platform services are down
If the game opens but Multiplayer says “Error: Multiplayer Is Unavailable. Please Try Again Later,” reports a lobby connection error, shows “Offline” or “Transitioning,” or fails to load Battle Pass or menus, the problem may be an outage rather than a damaged installation. Halo Support lists these among possible network-outage symptoms. Check Halo’s current outage updates, and check Xbox or Steam service status as relevant to your platform. Confirm that your home network is working. If services and your connection appear normal but the issue continues, submit a Halo Support ticket with the exact error text.
2. Install any available game update
An outdated client can prevent the game or its online features from working as expected. Close Halo Infinite and check for updates in the same store or platform where you installed it. Halo Support documents update checks for Microsoft Store, the Xbox app, Steam, and Xbox consoles. Use Halo Support’s platform-specific update guidance if you need the exact current steps. On Microsoft Store, select “Get updates” to refresh the update view if you expect an update but do not see one.
3. Repair or verify the game files on PC
If Halo Infinite crashes during startup, fails after an update, or appears to have missing or corrupted content, use the repair option for your PC storefront. These procedures differ by platform; choose the one that matches your installation.

Steam
- Open your Steam Library, right-click Halo Infinite, and select Properties.
- Open Installed Files and select Verify integrity of game files (the wording may appear as “Verify Integrity of Local Game Files” in Halo Support’s instructions).
- Wait for verification to finish, then restart the PC before launching the game again, as Halo Support recommends.

Microsoft Store
- In Windows, open Settings > Apps > Installed apps (or Apps & features in some Windows versions).
- Select Halo Infinite, open Advanced options, then choose Repair.
- If Repair does not resolve the problem, reinstall the game.
Xbox app on PC
- Open the Xbox app and select Halo Infinite.
- Open Manage > Files, then select Verify and Repair.

4. Try the Steam texture-pack workaround for a Campaign launch crash
Use this only if Halo Infinite crashes while starting Campaign on Steam. Halo Support identifies a specific case in which the crash may occur when both Campaign and Multiplayer High-Res Texture Packs are not installed. Its workaround changes the installed DLC; it is not a general fix for loading problems on other platforms.
- In Steam, open Halo Infinite’s Properties > DLC.
- Uncheck Multiplayer High-Res Textures and allow Steam to update the game.
- Try launching Campaign. If the crash continues, return to the DLC settings and also uncheck Campaign and Campaign High-Res Textures, then let the game update again and relaunch.
- If the game starts, reinstall any DLC you removed.
The relevant Halo Campaign Known Issues page was updated June 10, 2025, for version 1.11.0.1. Check its current instructions if Steam’s interface or the behavior differs.

5. Check for the documented Easy Anti-Cheat or Comodo blocker
Halo Support says Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) may rarely be missing and prevent the game from launching. If that matches your issue, use the remedy for your installation:
- Steam: verify the game files using the steps above.
- Microsoft Store or Xbox app: uninstall and reinstall Halo Infinite to retrigger EAC setup.
The same Halo Support known-issues page identifies Comodo Antivirus as a possible launch blocker for Microsoft Store and Xbox app installations. For that named product and installation type, add Halo Infinite to Comodo’s Excluded Applications list. Do not broadly disable antivirus protection as a general troubleshooting step.

6. Fully close and relaunch for these documented Xbox and Campaign cases
Xbox Multiplayer shows “Multiplayer Is Unavailable”
Halo Support says Xbox Quick Resume or Instant-on can lead to the Multiplayer unavailable error. Fully close Halo Infinite, then launch it again so it can reconnect to services. See Halo’s Multiplayer known issues, updated November 18, 2025.
Xbox says to buy Campaign again
If you own Campaign digitally but the game prompts you to purchase it again, close and relaunch Halo Infinite. If multiple restarts do not restore access, contact Halo Support and include your console OS version. Halo’s Campaign known-issues page covers this case.

Campaign loading hangs after fast-traveling while dead
If this specific Campaign loading issue occurs, close the game and reload the save from the main menu, following Halo Support’s Campaign guidance.
When the six fixes do not resolve it
Note where the failure occurs—launch, Campaign loading, or Multiplayer/menu access—and record the exact error and platform or storefront. If service status and the relevant repair steps do not explain the problem, send those details to Halo Support rather than assuming the installation is at fault.
