Halo Infinite’s Operation: Snowbound ran from December 3, 2024, through January 7, 2025. The holiday-season operation added a free 20-tier reward track, optional premium pass offers, the 1v1 Showdown playlist, and a Forge remake of Halo 3’s Snowbound map. Its timed event has ended.
When did Operation: Snowbound run?
Halo Waypoint announced the operation for December 3, 2024, through January 7, 2025. It was a seasonal in-game operation, not a standalone release. The original time-limited event window is over. Halo Waypoint’s launch announcement gives the dates and event details.
What was included in the Snowbound update?
A 20-tier reward track
Players could progress the free 20-tier pass by earning Match XP in multiplayer matchmaking or Custom Games. The operation also offered two paid pass options. These were the offers listed for the 2024–25 operation, not a statement that they remain purchasable now. Halo Waypoint described the pass and its rewards.

Customization and Exchange items
Premium-pass examples included the “Offworld Holiday” VK78 Commando weapon model and the “Everything Nice” weapon coating. The Exchange added Grenade Harness hip gear and the Envious Gift weapon charm, alongside returning items. These are examples of rewards announced for the operation, not confirmation of current availability. Halo Waypoint’s announcement lists the cosmetics and Exchange additions.

Which modes and maps arrived?
1v1 Showdown
Showdown was a dedicated one-on-one playlist. Matches used best-of-five rounds: the first player to reach 500 points won a round, and the first to win three rounds took the match. Halo Support’s December 3, 2024 update notes describe the playlist and its rules.
Snowbound in Halo Infinite
The update brought a Forge remake of Halo 3’s Snowbound map to Custom Games and matchmaking. Its arrival made the map playable in Halo Infinite; the source does not establish that the operation itself remains active. Halo Support documents the map’s availability.

Snowball Fight
Snowball Fight was announced as a later-operation seasonal mode on Snowbound, Snow Ground, and Snow Fire. It replaced weapons with unlimited plasma grenades. That was a distinct mode from the 1v1 Showdown playlist, and its scheduled operation window has passed. Halo Waypoint announced the mode and maps.
What did the December 3 patch fix?
The December 3 patch notes report that the update reduced the likelihood of a PC Easy Anti-Cheat authorization error and improved stability on Xbox consoles and PC. They also list adjustments to coatings and armor kits. The notes describe these as changes in that update, not a guarantee that every later issue was resolved. Is Snowbound still available?
The operation’s timed pass and seasonal playlist window ended January 7, 2025. The official notes establish the Snowbound map’s availability in Custom Games and matchmaking, but do not establish that the operation’s expired pass, Snowball Fight schedule, or original offers can still be accessed. Halo Infinite’s multiplayer is free-to-play, while the campaign is a separate offering, according to the official Xbox game page.
