No evidence shows that Steam’s Community features have been universally broken. Valve redesigned the Workshop’s browsing interface, and some users have reported client-only navigation and rendering problems. Whether you are seeing a moved button, a changed Workshop layout, or a blank page matters: each points to a different issue.
What “Community tab” can mean on Steam
Steam Community is not a single page or feature. It can mean the top-level Community destination in the desktop client, a game’s Community Hub, or specific features such as Discussions, Workshop, Guides, screenshots, artwork, reviews, achievements, and profiles. Steamworks describes a game’s hub as a collection of community features, not one unified tab. Steamworks: Community features
That distinction matters: a changed Workshop page does not mean Discussions or profiles have been removed, and a button that disappears from one client layout does not prove its destination is gone.
What changed in Steam’s interface
The Workshop browsing redesign
Valve changed how Steam Workshop pages present and organize content. The redesign added a refreshed Workshop home, customizable home pages for developers, item tags, quick-view browsing intended to reduce full-page reloads, and sections for popular items, followed authors, cornerstone mods, and friends’ uploads. Browsing tabs include Most Popular, Most Subscribed, Last Updated, and Most Recent.

Valve said the redesign entered beta on April 1, 2026, and that the update reached everyone on May 27, 2026. It changed Workshop navigation and presentation; it was not an announcement that Steam Community as a whole had been removed or disabled. Valve’s Steam Workshop browsing UI announcement
The separate Store redesign
Valve also refreshed the Steam Store, including its search and browse experience, menus, artwork, and navigation intended to work better with controllers and Steam Deck. That is a separate change from the Workshop rollout, even though both affect Steam’s web-based interfaces. Valve’s Steam announcements

How to tell what is wrong
| What you see | What it most likely indicates |
|---|---|
| Community or achievement links are no longer separate buttons | The client may have collapsed them into a menu or dropdown, or changed their placement. |
| Workshop tabs, filters, or page layout look different | The Workshop browsing redesign changed the interface; check the new tabs and controls. |
| A Community page is blank, frozen, or unclickable in the Steam client | A client embedded-browser or rendering problem is plausible, particularly if the page works in a regular browser. |
| The same page fails in the client and a regular browser | Check for a network, login, service, account, or page-specific issue before concluding the client is at fault. |
| Only one game’s hub fails | The problem may be limited to that game’s hub, content, or configuration rather than Steam Community generally. |
Some users reported Community links moving into a dropdown in the desktop client while a normal browser still showed the older arrangement. That report also suggested checking Steam’s display scaling, but it is a user-reported observation—not a confirmed Valve explanation or universal fix. Steam Community user report
A ValveSoftware issue documents Steam client browser views of Community and profile pages becoming blank or non-interactive after a UI beta update. Switching to another view, returning from Library, or resizing the window could restore the page in the reported case. This demonstrates that client-side rendering failures have occurred; it does not establish a current platform-wide outage. ValveSoftware Steam for Linux issue

Troubleshoot a missing or blank Community page
- Open the same page in a regular browser. Try a normal browser such as Chrome or Firefox, and then a private window if needed. If it works outside Steam but not in the client, focus on the client view rather than assuming Community is offline.
- Look for a collapsed navigation menu. Check dropdowns and overflow menus on the game page before treating a missing Community or achievement button as a removed feature.
- Test Steam’s interface scaling. In the desktop client, open Steam → Settings → Interface and check Scale text and icons to match monitor settings. Toggle it, restart Steam, and see whether the layout changes. This is a community-reported troubleshooting idea, not an official diagnosis.
- Refresh the client view. Switch from Community to Library and back, open another Steam browser tab and return, or resize the window. These actions helped restore a view in the documented client issue, but may not resolve every cause.
- Exit and relaunch Steam completely. Closing the window alone may leave the client running; exit Steam, reopen it, and retry the same page.
- Try disabling GPU acceleration if the embedded view remains unusable. Valve’s support guidance identifies GPU acceleration as a possible factor in broken Steam web views and describes disabling it in Steam → Settings → Interface as a workaround. Restart after changing the setting. Valve warns that UI performance may be affected. Valve Support: steamwebhelper troubleshooting
- Use the regular browser temporarily. If only the desktop client fails, opening Discussions, profiles, Workshop pages, or guides in a browser lets you continue while avoiding the embedded view.
If the issue is limited to a Workshop page
First identify whether you are on a Workshop home page, an individual item page, or the game’s Discussions area. The redesign moved and reorganized browsing controls, so compare the function you need—not just the old button’s location. Look for the new sorting tabs, tags, and quick-view behavior. A changed layout alone does not establish that an item, filter, or discussion has been removed.

If a page fails in both Steam and a normal browser, test another Community page and, if practical, another network or device. A failure on just one game hub is different from one affecting multiple hubs and profiles. Steamworks notes that developers can configure aspects of Community Hubs, including forum visibility and posting rights, so a game-specific limitation may not be a Steam-wide problem. - 512 GB NVMe SSD: Fast storage for quicker game load times and space for larger game libraries.
- OLED Display: 1200x800 resolution with deep contrasts and vibrant colors for a captivating visual experience.

- Expandable Storage: Add more space with a microSD card slot, ensuring you can bring even more games with you.
- Versatile Controls: With built-in thumbsticks, trackpads, and touchscreen controls, you have full control over your gaming experience.
Forum reports and a client issue show that users have encountered changed navigation and broken embedded views, but they do not establish how widespread those problems are. The evidence supports a mix of intentional redesign and some client-specific trouble—not a confirmed global Community outage.
