Yes: Helldivers 2 patch 01.002.101 restored the ability to emote while falling or ragdolling. It is for comic timing, not survival: Arrowhead says the emote “should no longer reduce fall damage.” The update was announced on February 4, 2025, and also changes gas effects, the FRV, Dog Breath, mines, and the Ballistic Shield.
What changed about ragdolling and emotes?
Arrowhead’s notes say players can “once again emote while falling or ragdolling.” The restored input lets a Helldiver express themselves during a tumble, but it does not make the fall safer. The same note says emoting should no longer reduce fall damage; the patch is not a damage-reduction technique.

What else is in patch 01.002.101?
Beyond the emote change, the update adjusts gas, vehicle handling, a Guard Dog, mines, a shield backpack, and several gameplay and stability issues. The figures below are values from Arrowhead’s patch notes, not independently tested results.
Gas weapons and Dog Breath
- Gas status from spray weapons lasts 10 seconds instead of 6.
- The AX/TX-13 “Guard Dog” Dog Breath now prioritizes enemies that have not yet been affected by gas. Its targeting origin is the Helldiver’s position, and its range increased from 10 to 20 meters.
FRV handling
The FRV received handling and camera adjustments. Players can now deploy grenades and stratagems while leaning out.

Ballistic Shield
The SH-20 Ballistic Shield Backpack now blocks melee attacks until it breaks after taking enough damage.
Fixes
The patch also lists fixes for FRV problems, ragdoll movement and animation issues, matchmaking, crashes, and other gameplay problems.

When was the update announced?
The Steam events listing dates the announcement to February 4, 2025. Arrowhead’s support page for the notes displays February 11, 2025 and labels the page “Updated”; that is the support-page timestamp, not the Steam announcement date. The update is software, so no accessory or physical item is needed to use the emote change.
