That’s a visual comparison, not a confirmed Star Wars reference: the official announcement does not say the design was inspired by or licensed from Star Wars.
Why Polar Patriots looks like a snowtrooper loadout
PlayStation announced Polar Patriots on May 2, 2024, as an arctic-themed Premium Warbond for Helldivers 2, with a scheduled release of May 9, 2024. The clearest basis for the Snowtrooper comparison is the CW-36 Winter Warrior set. The announcement describes it as a way to “Blend into snowy environments with perfect camouflage.” That is promotional styling language, not a measured claim about in-game stealth or camouflage effectiveness. PlayStation.Blog’s announcement was written by Dominic Wiggan, Senior Copywriter, Creative Studio, SIE.

The other armor sets reinforce the cold-weather theme: CW-22 Kodiak and CW-4 Arctic Ranger. Together with Winter Warrior, they make the Warbond’s snowy presentation more than a single white outfit. Still, the Snowtrooper label is an observer’s visual shorthand; neither PlayStation nor Arrowhead identifies a Star Wars connection.
What comes in the Polar Patriots Warbond?
Weapons and utility
- AR-61 Tenderizer: an assault rifle included in the Warbond’s weapon lineup.
- SMG-72 Pummeler: PlayStation describes it as a slower-firing concussive submachine gun.
- PLAS-101 Purifier: a charge-and-release weapon, according to the announcement.
- G-13 Incendiary Impact: an incendiary impact grenade.
- P-113 Verdict: a secondary weapon.
- Motivational Shocks: a booster intended to help players recover from slowing effects.
These are the publisher’s descriptions of the contents, not independent comparisons or performance testing. Arrowhead says Warbond weapons and armor are “designed to spice up the player experience, not to overpower the options available in game.” Arrowhead’s Warbond support page was updated August 26, 2025.

Polar Patriots is in-game content, not a separate physical product. The announcement says players need the base game, paid purchase of Super Credits, and game progression. Arrowhead explains that players purchase Warbonds with Super Credits, then unlock their pages using War Medals earned through play. Its support page also says existing Warbonds remain available for purchase; availability can therefore be distinguished from the original May 2024 release date.
