Hogwarts Legacy’s hedge mazes are optional overworld challenges. Walk through the leafy stone archway to enter, cast Revelio to locate the large chest, then work through the randomly generated paths toward it. There are five reported regional locations, but no dependable fixed route or coordinate for every maze.
How to solve a hedge maze
- Find an entrance. Search the five reported regions below for a stone arch covered in leaves. A maze may not appear on the world map until you get close.
- Activate it on foot. Walk through the middle of the archway. If it does not trigger, approach from the opposite side and try again. Read or interact with the note beside the entrance if one is present.
- Cast Revelio. Use the chest highlight to choose a direction. Aim generally toward the maze’s center rather than following the outer perimeter.
- Test branches and backtrack. The layouts are randomized, so there is no set sequence of turns. Edge paths commonly lead back toward an exit, and trying a different branch is part of the puzzle.
- Open the large chest. Reaching and opening it completes the maze and awards a legendary chest reward.
The maze is treated as an interior area, so mounts and brooms are unavailable once you enter, according to the wiki summary. If a generated layout is particularly awkward, Game8 documents reloading an earlier save to generate a different layout.
Where to find the five reported hedge mazes
The regional locations below are commonly reported; exact coordinates and platform-specific appearance schedules have not been established consistently. Use nearby Floo Flames, map discovery, and Revelio to search each area rather than relying on a single coordinate.
- Hogsmeade Valley — one of the five reported regional spawn areas.
- South Hogwarts Region — the named maze area is near Lower Hogsfield, as listed by Pro Game Guides.
- South Sea Bog — one of the five reported regional spawn areas.
- Poidsear Coast — one of the five reported regional spawn areas.
- Cragcroftshire — Game8 places a maze south of the Cragcroft Floo Flame.
Why a hedge maze may disappear
Game8 reports that a maze can disappear after it has been found. If that happens, use these options:

- Complete it as soon as you encounter it, if it is still available.
- Reload a save from before the maze disappeared.
- Check the other reported regions, since another maze may be available there.
- Advance the story until the in-game season changes, then check again.
The wiki summary says only five mazes appear in a playthrough. It also says they are not required for the Collector’s Edition achievement, so a missing maze does not block that completion requirement.
Do mazes have a fixed solution or route?
No fixed turn-by-turn route is reliable: maze layouts are randomized. Revelio provides the most useful directional clue by highlighting the chest. Favor paths that trend toward the center, avoid hugging the perimeter, and backtrack when a branch fails to bring you closer. Reloading an earlier save is an option if you want a newly generated layout rather than continuing to test branches.

What do hedge mazes reward?
Opening the large chest completes the maze and gives a legendary chest reward. The wiki summary also reports that four of the mazes provide historical notes.
