Spoilers: The Witch Crest is the reward for completing a two-part quest, not an item at a single map marker. Find the Twisted Bud in Bilewater and take it to Greyroot in Shellwood to begin Rite of Rebirth. After the curse takes effect, start Infestation Operation with Yarnaby in Greymoor, collect Steel Spines from Crull and Benjin in Sinner’s Road, then return to Yarnaby to receive the Witch Crest.
Find the Twisted Bud in Bilewater
The Twisted Bud is behind a breakable wall in Bilewater. To reach its room, use the concealed passage at the top right of the adjacent room to enter the hidden eastern section of the Whispering Vaults, then find and break the wall. The Hollow Knight Wiki’s Twisted Bud guide describes this route.
Complete Rite of Rebirth with Greyroot
Before Greyroot can begin Rite of Rebirth, you must have completed Rite of the Pollip. Bring the Twisted Bud to Greyroot in Shellwood; Greyroot starts the Wish and takes Hornet to the Chapel of the Witch.
What the curse changes
During the curse, Hornet cannot use Tools or Silk Skills, and Bind cannot be used to heal. The curse also overrides the Crest you have equipped. These effects are temporary: the next quest removes the parasite.

Cure the curse through Infestation Operation
Go to Yarnaby in Greymoor and start Infestation Operation. Then find Crull and Benjin in Sinner’s Road and obtain their Steel Spines. Return to Yarnaby to have the operation performed. It removes the parasite, completes the Wish, and transforms the Cursed Crest into the Witch Crest. The Hollow Knight Wiki’s Infestation Operation guide covers the cure quest.
Guides disagree about whether the Steel Spines cost 160 or 260 Rosaries, so neither price is reliable enough to treat as definitive. Both accounts describe an Act 3 situation in which Crull and Benjin are dead and the spines can be obtained from them. Check the in-game interaction rather than planning around either disputed figure.

What the Witch Crest does
Nintendo Life describes the Witch Crest as using wide attacks and changing Bind to produce vines. When Hornet is close to an enemy, those vines can damage it and drain health. Unlike a straightforward healing Bind, this effect depends on being close enough to an enemy for the vines to hit; it is an offensive option with a health-return effect, not a guaranteed safe heal. The practical choice is whether you prefer direct healing or a Bind that can deal damage and return health when used near an enemy. The cited guide does not establish verified numerical comparisons for Crest damage, healing, or overall performance.
