Hollow Knight: Silksong won Game of the Year at the 2025 Steam Awards. The award was decided by votes from Steam users during the Steam Winter Sale, not by a critics’ or industry jury.
Who won Game of the Year at the 2025 Steam Awards?
Valve’s official 2025 Steam Awards page names Hollow Knight: Silksong as the Game of the Year winner. Steam’s official account separately congratulated the game on the win in a post on Bluesky.
How were the winners chosen?
Valve says Steam users chose the winners through votes cast during the Steam Winter Sale. That makes the result a community-voted Steam award, not a universal industry verdict or a jury’s selection. The official page does not state a vote total or exact voting dates, so neither can be established from Valve’s published result.
What is Hollow Knight: Silksong?
Steam lists Team Cherry as both developer and publisher and gives the release date as September 4, 2025. The store describes Silksong as a single-player action-adventure sequel to Hollow Knight, starring Hornet as she explores and fights through the kingdom of Pharloom. Steam also lists an official soundtrack as separate content.
