Golden Scapegoat puzzles send a goat toward an altar while a shadow retraces your moves. Avoid the shadow, and use the solution for your puzzle’s area and map state: routes can depend on story progress, day or Evernight, bridges, lifts, and special mechanics. This guide covers the documented Version 3.0 and 3.2 move lists, plus location information indexed through Version 3.7. It is not confirmed here whether Version 3.8 or later added more puzzles.
How Golden Scapegoat puzzles work
Move the goat toward the altar using directional inputs. After a set number of steps, a shadow appears and repeats the route you took. If the goat touches the shadow, the attempt fails and resets. Reaching the altar completes or progresses the Golden Scapegoat mission. For a general explanation and the original Version 3.0 routes, see Dot Esports’ Golden Scapegoat guide.
Match the directions below to the exact area and puzzle ordinal. If your map geometry differs, check your Trailblaze mission progress and the required map state before assuming the route is wrong.
Version 3.0: 16 original puzzles
Dot Esports documents 16 original puzzles across four Amphoreus map groups. The guide notes that some layouts may differ before the Version 3.0 Trailblaze missions are complete. Its linked walkthrough supplies the move sequences for each numbered puzzle; use the area and landmarks below to identify the correct one rather than applying a route to a different room.

Version 3.2: six documented puzzles
Beebom’s April 9, 2025 guide lists three puzzles in Dragonbone City Styxia and three in Demigod Council Dawncloud, with move sequences for all six. The location cues and prerequisites below help distinguish them. For each puzzle’s complete input string, use the matching ordinal in Beebom’s Version 3.2 walkthrough.

Dragonbone City Styxia
- Puzzle 1: Follow the Ancient City Market route and cross the river. The cited sequence is Left ×5, Right ×3, Left ×3.
- Puzzle 2: Find it in a corner across the river after disabling Oronyx’s Rune.
- Puzzle 3: Go to the Treasure Vault Secret Passage area, second floor, in Evernight state. Reveal the scapegoat with Oronyx’s Rune.
Demigod Council Dawncloud
- Puzzle 1: Beyond the Garmentmaker at Demigod Council: Forecourt. The cited sequence is Right, Right, Down, Right, Left, Up, Left ×4, Right, Left ×2.
- Puzzle 2: At the end of the route from the Sacred Path of Dawncloud teleport waypoint.
- Puzzle 3: Reach Worldbearing Altar: Audience Hall via the lift.
The two sequences shown are source-reported instructions, not independently tested here. Check the area and ordinal carefully before entering them.

Game8’s page, indexed as updated November 12, 2025, has sections for Versions 3.0 through 3.7. Its indexed material identifies later puzzle groups and some landmarks, but the page could not be fully accessed for this guide. Detailed move sequences for these sections are therefore not reproduced here; use a location match and consult the cited guide before attempting a route.

For the first Memortis Shore puzzle, Game8’s indexed text reports Left ×4, Up, Right ×2, then entering a portal, pressing a blue button, and continuing right to the altar. Treat this as a reported route rather than an independently verified sequence. The indexed details do not establish full move lists for all Version 3.3–3.7 puzzles.

When a route or location does not match
- Compare map state: Some Version 3.0 rooms have day-state requirements; one Styxia puzzle is specifically in Evernight.
- Check story progress: Dot Esports says some Version 3.0 layouts look different before the relevant Trailblaze missions are complete.
- Confirm traversal prerequisites: A bridge may need assembling, a lift may be required, or a Rune or Miracle Orb may be part of reaching or revealing a puzzle.
- Verify the ordinal and landmark: A correct input list for another puzzle will not solve the one you are standing at.
- Re-enter carefully after a reset: A collision with the shadow resets the attempt. Community guide comments show that move instructions can be corrected or questioned, so treat a conflicting sequence cautiously.
