The 16.1-inch laptop combined a 144Hz display with 10th-generation Intel processors, GTX 1660 Ti or RTX 2060 graphics, and a distinctive pop-open “Wind Valley” cooling intake. The Chinese lineup had three configurations, starting at ¥7,499; that was a China launch, not a worldwide release.
HONOR’s first gaming notebook
HONOR unveiled the HUNTER V700 at its Smart Life conference in Beijing. The company presented HUNTER as a gaming and eSports brand, extending its laptop range beyond productivity-focused notebooks. Launch coverage described the V700 as HONOR’s first dedicated gaming notebook. IT之家’s launch report and TechAdvisor’s coverage provide context for the debut.
“V700 series” referred to several hardware configurations built around the same basic design, rather than separate laptop generations.
Chinese configurations and launch prices
The principal China launch lineup comprised three configurations. These are the reported standard launch prices, not current prices or a conversion into another market’s pricing.

Display, chassis and core hardware
16.1-inch, 144Hz display
The V700 had a 16.1-inch IPS panel with 1920 × 1080 resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. Launch specifications cited up to 100% sRGB coverage, a 1000:1 contrast ratio and 300 nits of brightness; these are stated specifications, not measurements of every retail unit. Side bezels were reported at about 4.7mm. HONOR positioned the screen as offering more area than a typical 15.6-inch laptop while keeping the machine relatively compact.
Processors, graphics, memory and storage
The Chinese lineup paired the Core i5-10300H with a GTX 1660 Ti, or the Core i7-10750H with an RTX 2060. The RTX model supported hardware ray tracing. All three listed China configurations had 16GB of DDR4 memory; launch reports said memory could be expanded to 32GB. Storage was a 512GB or 1TB PCIe SSD, and HONOR’s Russian regional announcement described two M.2 SSD slots.

Thin metal body
The chassis was described as an aluminum-alloy metal body around 19.9mm thick. A launch account listed dimensions of approximately 369.7 × 253 × 19.9mm; treat these as launch-material figures, not independent measurements. HONOR noted that its thickness figure could exclude the deployed cooling structure and support feet. A launch report with the dimensions gives the stated measurements.

Wind Valley was the V700’s signature design feature. A hinged panel on the underside lifted to create an intake gap reported at about 8.5mm, giving the cooling system additional room to draw air. HONOR claimed this arrangement increased airflow by 40%. The system also included dual 12V fans, heat pipes, a large heatsink, keyboard ventilation and a dust-removal channel. The airflow figure is HONOR’s claim, not an independently verified result.
HONOR’s regional announcement reported its own 72-minute internal test using AIDA64 FPU and FurMark at 26°C. It listed a CPU temperature of 89°C at 44.9W, a GPU temperature of 77°C at 101.1W, a WASD-area keyboard temperature of 30.6°C and fan noise no higher than 49dB. These are manufacturer-reported test results under the stated conditions, not independent review measurements. HONOR’s Russian regional announcement describes the cooling design and test.

Gaming controls, software and ports
Keyboard and controls
The V700 had a full-size keyboard with a numeric keypad, full-size directional keys and reported key travel of about 1.8mm. The dedicated HUNTER key provided access to performance, balanced and quiet modes. Launch coverage described four-zone RGB lighting on the main configuration, while noting that a monochrome keyboard could be optional; lighting should not be assumed identical across every market or SKU. A fingerprint reader was integrated into the power button. Some launch materials also described NFC hardware in the touchpad.
Phone-connected features
HONOR promoted multi-screen collaboration with compatible HONOR phones. Its Highlight Capture feature could save a one-minute gameplay clip—30 seconds before and 30 seconds after a trigger. Wireless synchronization of mobile-game video and audio was also presented for streaming. These were ecosystem features requiring a compatible HONOR phone and supporting software, not standalone capabilities available to every V700 owner. Other promoted software included Nahimic gaming audio and HONOR PC Manager.

Reported ports included a 3.5mm audio jack, USB Type-C with data and external-display support, HDMI 2.0, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, one USB 2.0 Type-A port and Gigabit Ethernet (RJ45). HONOR promoted Type-C display support and HDMI output for multi-display setups.

Launch timeline and regional availability
- September 16, 2020: HONOR announced the V700 in China; Chinese pre-orders were reported as opening that day.
- September 27, 2020: Chinese retail sale or shipping was scheduled to begin, depending on the launch report’s wording.
- November 23, 2020: HONOR issued a regional announcement for Russia.
- November 24, 2020: Russian pre-orders were planned to begin.
The Russian announcement described two local configurations: an i5/GTX 1660 Ti version at ₽139,990 and an i7/RTX 2060 version at ₽159,990. The China lineup had three principal configurations, so the different model counts reflect market assortments; the Russian pair should not be mistaken for the complete Chinese range. Nor should these ruble prices be treated as original global pricing. The available launch information establishes a China launch and a Russian regional announcement, not a uniform worldwide rollout or a US launch.
What made it notable at launch—and what it did not establish
In 2020, the V700 stood out for putting an RTX 2060 option, a 144Hz screen, expandable memory and storage, and a slim metal chassis into HONOR’s first gaming notebook. The unusual lifting intake made the cooling design a visible part of the product rather than a hidden internal change.
Those strengths need their period context: the Core i5-10300H, Core i7-10750H, GTX 1660 Ti and RTX 2060 are 2020-era components. The 1080p panel prioritized refresh rate over resolution, and the GTX 1660 Ti lacks RTX-series hardware features such as hardware ray tracing and DLSS support. A slim gaming chassis can also trade off sustained thermals and acoustics; HONOR’s own test figures do not substitute for independent testing.

Should you buy a HUNTER V700 in 2026?
The V700 is now a used-market prospect, not a current-generation gaming recommendation. The launch information available here does not establish an active first-party HONOR retail listing, current official pricing, warranty coverage or ongoing availability. A buyer considering one should judge the individual unit and total cost, rather than relying on its original RTX 2060 positioning.
- Check battery health, SSD health, fan noise and dust buildup.
- Inspect that the lifting Wind Valley panel and its hinge move and close properly.
- Confirm the RAM configuration, original charger, keyboard layout and Windows license.
- Ask the seller to demonstrate the installed GPU under load and verify whether the machine is imported or covered by local warranty.
- Check what BIOS, driver and replacement-part support is actually available for that unit and market.
Compare the used price against newer entry-level gaming laptops available in your region. A newer system is generally the better fit for current gaming performance, modern graphics features or dependable local support; the V700 makes most sense only if its condition is verifiable and its price reflects its age.
