Hot Wheels: Race Off did launch on Android and iPhone/iPad in 2016. That historical release does not mean the original game is still available to download: current official-store availability for it is unconfirmed. Hutch Games now lists Hot Wheels™: Race Off+, a related but separate Apple-platform listing, so check the title and developer before installing anything.
What was the original Hot Wheels: Race Off?
Hutch Games released the original Hot Wheels: Race Off for Android in October 2016; Hutch’s launch video said it was available on both Android and iOS in December 2016. The game put players in side-view physics races on orange Hot Wheels tracks, with cars navigating loops, jumps and boosters. Its launch material advertised more than 30 cars, more than 40 tracks, upgrades and competitive multiplayer. Hutch’s launch video documents the original platform and feature claims; MobyGames’ release record also records Android, iPhone, iPad and tvOS releases.
Can you download the original game today?
Current evidence does not confirm that the original Hutch game is normally downloadable from Google Play or the U.S. App Store. That is different from proving a formal shutdown or a delisting date: no first-party notice establishing either was found. App availability can also vary by country and account history, so a former player may still see an option that a new player does not.
| Platform or route | What is established |
|---|---|
| Android | The 2016 release is verified; a current official Google Play download for the original is not confirmed. |
| iPhone and iPad | The 2016 release is verified; a current official listing for the original is not confirmed. |
| Apple Arcade / Apple platforms | Hutch lists Race Off+, a separate listing for iPhone and iPad; this does not establish availability of the original. |
| tvOS | A historical release is recorded; current availability is not established. |
A search result for an app called “Race Off” is not proof that Hutch’s game remains listed. One such App Store result is a monster-truck stunt game, not the Hot Wheels title. Reviews on another similarly named listing nostalgically mention the old Hot Wheels game and say it was discontinued, but those reviews are anecdotal rather than an official delisting announcement. See the unrelated monster-truck listing and the other similarly named listing.

How is Race Off+ different?
Hot Wheels™: Race Off+ is Hutch’s current branded listing found for Apple devices. Hutch describes 30 cars and 60 physics-based tracks, with loops, jumps, boosters, upgrades and Game Center leaderboards. Its official game page and the App Store listing support those details. The App Store listing researched is for Norway and specifies iPhone/iPad compatibility with iOS or iPadOS 13 or later; it is not evidence of Android availability or identical catalog access in every country.
| Detail | Original Race Off | Race Off+ |
|---|---|---|
| Release evidence | Android and iOS launch in 2016. | Current Hutch and Apple listings identify a separate version; the Apple listing carries a 2024 Hutch Games Ltd copyright. |
| Cars and tracks | Launch video advertised 30-plus cars and 40-plus tracks. | Hutch describes 30 cars and 60 tracks. |
| Platform evidence | Historical Android, iPhone, iPad and tvOS releases; present store availability unconfirmed. | Researched App Store listing supports iPhone and iPad; Android availability is not established. |
| Online features | Launch materials advertised multiplayer against friends and global players. | Hutch describes Game Center leaderboards. |
| Progress and purchases | Current operation and transfer options are not established. | Transfer of original progress or purchases is not established. |
Do not assume that Race Off+ is an update to the original, preserves its saves or purchases, or offers the same multiplayer. The available official descriptions do not establish those connections.

How to check whether you can restore the original
- Search your official library. On Apple devices, check your App Store account’s purchase history; on Android, check the Google Play library for apps associated with your account. Search the full title, Hot Wheels: Race Off, and confirm Hutch Games as developer.
- Check devices you used before. If the game is still installed on an old phone or tablet, that may be the most direct way to access the legacy app. A device backup is another possibility only if the platform offers a compatible restore.
- Check compatibility before restoring. A restored legacy app may not support a current operating-system version, and a previous download entry does not guarantee a successful install.
- Keep expectations limited. Restoring the app does not prove that online services, cloud saves, leaderboards, ads or in-app purchases still work. There is also no verified progress-transfer path to Race Off+.
Hutch’s legacy Help Center still has topics on controls, fuel, upgrades, unlocking content and iOS saving. Its contact page is also accessible. Those pages can help with documented legacy questions, but their existence does not establish active development, current downloads or functioning multiplayer servers.

How to avoid the wrong app or an unsafe download
- Check the full name: it should say Hot Wheels: Race Off or Hot Wheels™: Race Off+, not just “Race Off.”
- Verify the developer is Hutch Games Ltd and look for the Hot Wheels branding and licensed car artwork.
- Confirm the platform and compatibility requirements on the store listing; a listing for Apple devices does not mean an Android version exists.
- Do not treat an old video link, archive page or unofficial APK as proof of official availability. Modified or unofficial packages may be unsafe, altered or incompatible, and are not a verified substitute for the store release.
