Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Rockstar lists 105GB for GTA 5 Enhanced on PC and requires an SSD; GTA 5 Legacy lists 125GB. Those are the current disk requirements, not guaranteed peak space for downloading and installing: Rockstar also advises leaving room for extraction files, supporting components, and updates, without naming a fixed extra-space amount.
How much space does GTA 5 need on PC?
Rockstar’s current PC store listing gives separate storage figures for the two editions included with a PC purchase:
| Edition | Listed disk space | Storage detail |
|---|---|---|
| GTAV Enhanced | 105GB | SSD required; Rockstar recommends a DirectStorage-compatible drive. |
| GTAV Legacy | 125GB | No SSD requirement is stated in the listed Legacy requirements. |
The numbers are edition-specific. Enhanced’s listed requirement is 20GB lower than Legacy’s, but the installation may temporarily need more room than the listed amount.
How much free space should you leave for installation?
Rockstar’s PC installation troubleshooting guidance says to account for the final system requirement as well as extraction and installation files for DirectX, Visual C++, .NET, and updates. It does not provide a single additional-space figure. Keep more free space available than the edition’s listed requirement, and avoid treating 105GB or 125GB as a guaranteed maximum during setup.

Why do some pages say GTA 5 needs 65GB?
The 65GB figure refers to the older PC DVD release, not the current store listing. In a Rockstar Support article last updated March 20, 2024, the company says: “GTAV for PC comes on 7 discs and 65GB is needed on the hard drive.” That answer is specifically about the DVD version; the current listing gives 105GB for Enhanced and 125GB for Legacy.
