To change your child’s Roblox settings, first link your Roblox account as a parent, then open Settings > Parental Controls and select your child. Choose the relevant control area—such as content, communication, spending, or screen time—and adjust the available options. What you can change depends on the child’s age, account type, and region.
Link your parent account to your child’s Roblox account
You need a Roblox account with parent privileges linked to your child’s account before you can manage their controls. Roblox supports managing a linked child account on Roblox.com and in the Roblox mobile app for iOS and Android. The parent-account setup asks for a birth date and age verification using a government-issued ID or credit card. Roblox says linked parent accounts with parent privileges replaced the old Parent PIN approach. See Roblox’s parent privileges guide.
Open Parental Controls and choose your child
- Open Settings. On desktop, select the gear icon in the upper-right corner. In the mobile app, tap More in the lower-right corner, then Settings.
- Go to Parental Controls. Select Settings > Parental Controls.
- Select the child’s account. If more than one child is linked, choose the child whose settings you want to change.
- Open the relevant control. Content, communication, and spending options are under Settings you Manage; screen-time controls are in Screen time.
Roblox’s parent privileges instructions show the current navigation. Labels may change as Roblox updates the interface.
Change content maturity and game access
From the child’s page, open Settings you Manage > Content restrictions > Content maturity and select an available level: Minimal, Mild, Moderate, or Restricted. Roblox says games above the selected maturity level may still appear in search results or advertisements, but the child cannot play them. Parents can also allow or block certain games. Roblox’s guidance currently limits Restricted games to age-verified adults. See Roblox’s content maturity labels guide.

Roblox describes different age-based defaults for Roblox Kids (ages 5–8) and Roblox Select (ages 9–15), including differences in content and chat availability. These are current defaults, not guarantees that every account in an age band will have identical settings; account configuration and region can affect what appears. Details are in Roblox’s parent privileges FAQ and content maturity guidance.
Manage chat and communication
Open Settings you Manage > Communication. For experience chat, choose Communication > Experience chat. Roblox separates experience chat, direct chat, friends chat, and Party settings, so review the specific feature you want to change rather than assuming one switch controls every type of communication.

Chat cannot be enabled in the user’s settings until an age check is complete. Parental consent is required for certain age groups and chat types, and eligibility depends on the child’s age and account. Roblox also cautions that these controls may not cover chat features developers build independently into their experiences. See the parent controls overview and Roblox’s age-based account guidance.
Set a daily screen-time limit and review activity
On the child’s Parental Controls page, open Screen time > Manage > Screen time limit, then select a daily limit. Roblox says that when the child reaches it, they cannot use Roblox for the rest of that day. The same area shows the top 20 experiences from the last week. Roblox describes the screen-time graph as time across the Roblox platform and the Top experiences view as time spent in individual experiences. Its overview also refers to a seven-day average for screen time; these are account insights, not an independent measure of a child’s activity. Set spending restrictions
Go to Settings you Manage > Spending restrictions to set a monthly spending limit or spending notifications. Roblox says the limit resets at the end of each calendar month and does not roll over. It does not apply to gift-card redemption, so it is not a complete restriction on adding value to an account. Roblox’s linked-parent overview says high-spend alerts are on by default, but check the current settings and live help page for alert details because thresholds and local-currency equivalents can change. Review friends, visibility, and other account controls
Roblox allows parents to view or manage some privacy settings, on-platform friends, and selected account features, depending on the child’s age. For a particular friend, blocked user, or visibility option, open the linked child’s Parental Controls and look for the corresponding setting. Do not assume every privacy or social feature is parent-managed for every age or account type; Roblox’s parent privileges FAQ describes the available controls.

Why a setting may be missing or unavailable
- The accounts are not linked: Link your Roblox account with parent privileges before looking for child controls.
- The child is not selected: Return to Parental Controls and select the correct linked account.
- The child’s age or account type affects eligibility: Some controls, especially communication options, depend on age checks, consent, or age-based defaults.
- The setting varies by region: Roblox says feature availability and defaults may differ by region.
- The child is older: Roblox gradually shifts some account management to the child as they grow. At 13, some privacy settings and screen-time controls move to the teen, while parents retain selected controls and insights. Roblox says accounts are automatically unlinked from a parent at age 18.
Check the child’s current age and account type, then consult the specific control’s Roblox help page if the option still does not appear. The parent-controls overview is at Roblox Support.
