If you can sign in, find your public Epic account name in Account Settings. If you cannot sign in, Epic’s recovery flow can help you identify the account email or reset your password. Epic does not show your existing password: you must verify your identity and create a new one.
What does “Epic Games username” mean?
Epic calls the public-facing name on your account your Epic Games Display Name. You can find it in your account settings. It may also appear in the Epic Games Launcher and supported games or community features.
Your Epic Display Name is not necessarily the same as your PlayStation or Xbox gamertag. If you see a console name in a game, it may be the platform identity rather than the Epic account name.
Your account email is a separate identifier used for sign-in and account messages. A password is private: Epic’s supported option is to reset it, not retrieve or display the old one.

How do I find my Epic Display Name and account email if I can sign in?
- Open your Epic Games account settings and look for the Display Name field.
- On your account page, check the email information. Epic shows a signed-in user a hidden version of the address, not necessarily the full email.
- If you want to change your password, open the account’s password and security controls and follow the confirmation steps sent to the current account email.
How do I reset my Epic Games password if I know the email?
- Go to Epic’s sign-in page and select Trouble signing in?
- Enter an email address you may have used for the account, then follow the prompts. If Epic finds the account, it may ask you to verify using a configured two-factor authentication method. Otherwise, it may send a security code to the account email.
- Enter the code if requested and follow the prompts to set a new password.
- If Epic cannot find an account for the address you entered, use the Recover account option shown in the error rather than continuing to guess email addresses.
The available verification steps can vary with the account’s settings and Epic’s current recovery flow. A password reset creates a new password; it does not reveal the previous one.
What if I forgot which email is on my Epic account?
- Sign out of Epic before starting the account-email search. If you are signed in to a different Epic account, open a separate private or incognito browser window.
- Start Epic’s Search for your account email self-service flow.
- Enter an Epic Display Name, Account ID, or display name for a linked console or social account.
- If Epic finds a match, it sends a message to the email address on that account. You need access to that mailbox to read the result.
You can also check saved credentials in your browser. If you previously linked a console or social account to Epic, try signing in with that account; linked sign-in works only for an account that was already connected.

What if I cannot access the email or verification method?
Choose Lost access to this email address? or the equivalent recovery option presented in Epic’s sign-in flow. Epic may ask for additional information and direct you to a multistep account recovery request form.
The form may request a new contact email, Account ID or invoice ID, email addresses and display names you have used, your name and country, linked-account details, phone or two-factor information, and payment information. Provide only information requested by Epic’s official form, and review it before submitting. Then watch the new contact email, including its spam folder, for Epic’s response. The information you provide helps Epic locate and verify the account.

What should I do if I think my Epic account was compromised?
- Secure the email account associated with Epic as well as the Epic account itself.
- If a console or social account was already linked, try using it to sign in to the associated Epic account, then reset the Epic password.
- If you cannot access the email account, contact that email provider to recover it. Afterward, secure the mailbox with a unique password and two-factor authentication.
- Use Epic’s official help and recovery process. Do not give your credentials to third-party account-recovery sellers or download software claiming to find your password.
Why can’t Epic simply tell me my account email?
Epic says it cannot disclose the email address on an account just because someone asks: “For account security reasons, we can’t just tell you the email address on your account.” Use the signed-out email search or account recovery flow to verify and locate the account instead.
