To reach B1 in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, get the Fairy Slingshot, use it to lower the ladder and clear the Skulltulas from the vines, then cross the east-side room and return to the upper level. Jump from there onto the large web in the center of the first floor; it breaks and drops Link into Basement Floor 1.

How to reach the central web

  1. Get the Fairy Slingshot. In the early rooms, use the Deku Shield to deflect the Deku Scrub’s projectile, talk to the Scrub, and go through the door it opens. Open the chest to collect the Slingshot.
  2. Lower the ladder. Return to the main room and shoot the ladder with the Slingshot. Climb it to reach the upper level.
  3. Clear the vines. Shoot the Skulltulas blocking the climbable vines, then climb up and enter the east-side door.
  4. Cross the east-side room. Press its switch to raise the platforms, then cross promptly to reach the Compass chest. Light a Deku Stick at the lit torch and use it to light the other torches; this is part of the route out of the room.
  5. Return to the upper level. Leave the room and deal with the large Skulltula. Continue to the upper level above the center of the first floor.
  6. Jump onto the web. Drop onto the cobweb covering the center of the first floor. It breaks under Link and he falls to B1.

This standard route is described by GameWith’s Inside the Deku Tree walkthrough, with the Slingshot, vine climb, Compass and torch sequence also covered by Thonky’s walkthrough. Zelda Dungeon’s reference identifies the central web as the basement barrier to break by dropping onto it from above.

What to do if the route stalls

  • The ladder is out of reach: Use the Fairy Slingshot to shoot it down; it is not ready to climb on the first pass.
  • Skulltulas block the vines: Clear them with the Slingshot before climbing.
  • The platforms start to fall: The switch is temporary, so cross as soon as it raises them.
  • You are looking for a door to B1: The entrance is the web over the center of the first floor. Reach it from above and jump down onto it.
  • You are out of Deku Seeds: GameWith notes that cutting grass can yield more; the grass regrows over time.

Reaching B1 is not the same as clearing it

The web drop completes the task of getting to B1. The puzzles after landing—burning a web with a torch, dealing with a Deku Scrub, shooting an eye switch above a door, and using a water switch—continue the dungeon toward the boss, but are not needed to enter the basement.

Controls and altered layouts

The walkthroughs describe the standard dungeon route, not a randomized or modified layout. They do not establish control-button labels across releases, so use the Slingshot and jump actions with the bindings shown for your version rather than relying on a particular button name.
