Published gameplay guidance says you can store an unwanted object in household inventory instead: tap and hold it, then tap the open-box icon. That action stores the item; it is not a sale. The game’s servers permanently closed on January 20, 2026, so it is no longer playable.
How to store an unwanted household item
Twinfinite’s historical guide describes this procedure for putting an item away:
- Tap and hold the household item.
- Tap the open-box icon to move it into household inventory.
This is a storage action, not a way to get currency back. Twinfinite is a secondary source for these instructions; they are published guidance, not a current, live-game procedure.
Why you can’t sell furniture or other items
The cited gameplay guide says The Sims Mobile did not provide an option to sell household objects for in-game currency. Its inventory instructions offer storage as the alternative, not a cash-out or refund.

The Sims Mobile’s current status
Electronic Arts says the game’s servers closed permanently on January 20, 2026, ending playability. Its Final Update FAQ lists these milestones:
- October 20, 2025: The final update was released, real-money purchases were disabled, and unlimited energy was granted.
- October 21, 2025: The game was delisted from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. EA said existing players could still re-download it from their app library at that time.
- January 6, 2026: Build Mode and Create-a-Sim content became free for every player, regardless of level or quest requirements.
- January 20, 2026: Servers closed permanently. EA stated, “TSM will no longer be playable.”
Store delisting and server closure were separate events: EA’s FAQ distinguished the period when existing players could re-download the app from the final date when the game stopped being playable.
