TechRadar reported that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate loaded into a match in less than three seconds during its Nintendo Switch 2 review, published June 30, 2025. That is a reviewer’s observation—not a controlled benchmark or a guarantee for every match, mode, system, or game version.
What the reported loading time means
The less-than-three-second figure describes one match-loading observation reported by TechRadar. The review did not provide a controlled comparison protocol, so it cannot establish a typical loading time across different play sessions or conditions. Read TechRadar’s Switch 2 review.
Is there a comparable result for the original Switch?
No matched original-Switch measurement is available in the cited reporting. A meaningful before-and-after comparison would need to use the same game version, mode, and loading transition on both systems. Without that, the reported Switch 2 time supports a striking individual observation, not a numerical claim about how much faster the game loads than on original Switch hardware.
Compatibility and current online requirements
Nintendo’s support information lists Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for Nintendo Switch 2 as well as Switch, Switch Lite, and Switch OLED. It lists version 13.0.5 as released September 1, 2026; Nintendo says that update fixed behavior involving invalid data in online battles. The update is required to use the game’s internet features, and Nintendo Switch Online membership is required for online features. See Nintendo’s update and support information.
