Fortnite Crew is a recurring subscription with pass access and other benefits; V-Bucks are the in-game currency you spend on eligible Shop items; and Item Shop bundles are direct purchases of selected cosmetics. The best fit depends on whether you want a package of ongoing benefits, currency to choose what to buy, or a particular set of cosmetics.
At a glance: three different kinds of purchase
| Option | What you get | How you get it |
|---|---|---|
| Fortnite Crew | Pass access, a monthly Crew Pack, 800 V-Bucks, and Rocket Pass Premium in Rocket League, according to Epic’s current Crew page. Monthly content and benefits may change. | A subscription that renews automatically until canceled. |
| V-Bucks | A balance of in-game currency to spend on eligible Shop items, such as Outfits and Emotes. | Buy currency through the applicable platform or store; check the local checkout for the available amount and terms. |
| Item Shop bundle | A defined set of cosmetics offered together in the Shop. | A direct purchase of that bundle, rather than a subscription or general currency benefit. |
These options are not interchangeable. Crew combines several benefits; V-Bucks let you choose among eligible purchases; and a bundle is for players who want the items in that specific offer.
What Fortnite Crew includes
Epic’s current Crew page lists access to the Battle Pass, OG Pass, LEGO Pass, and Music Pass, a monthly Crew Pack, 800 V-Bucks, and Rocket Pass Premium in Rocket League. Epic also says the listed benefits and monthly content are subject to change, so check the Fortnite Crew page before subscribing.
Pass access and progression
While a subscription is active, Crew subscribers can claim premium rewards from the listed Fortnite passes as they progress. Crew gives access to those premium rewards; it does not grant every reward automatically without playing. This differs from the Crew Pack, which Epic says subscribers keep.

The Crew Pack
Epic describes the Crew Pack as a Crew-exclusive bundle that is yours to keep. Its contents change over time. For example, the Crew page displayed August 2026’s pack as the Mortuus X Outfit, Soul Box Back Bling, and Spacebound Carvers Pickaxe; that is a dated example, not a promise about the current pack. Check the page for the offer available when you read it.
Recurring V-Bucks
The current Crew page lists 800 V-Bucks as a subscription benefit. Epic’s terms and platform rules matter: V-Bucks may not be redeemable on every platform where you play, even when eligible items are accessible across platforms.

What V-Bucks and Shop bundles do
V-Bucks give you a spending balance
V-Bucks are useful when you want to choose among eligible Shop items rather than receive a predetermined set. The currency itself does not provide pass access or pass progression. Which V-Bucks can be used on which platform can depend on the platform rules, so check the applicable account and checkout details before buying.
A bundle is a specific cosmetic purchase
An Item Shop bundle is a direct purchase of the cosmetics included in that offer. It does not provide Crew’s subscription benefits or substitute for unlocking premium pass rewards through progression. Before buying, review the bundle’s listed contents and price in your Shop; the available offers can change.

Battle Pass: Crew access or a separate purchase
Epic’s current Battle Pass page lists the Chapter 7 Season 4 Battle Pass at 800 V-Bucks or as part of Fortnite Crew. The page says the pass ends November 1, 2026, Eastern Time; both the price and end date are season-specific, so verify the live Battle Pass page for the season you are considering.
Players can unlock up to 800 V-Bucks in that pass by earning XP. That is a possible pass reward earned through play, not an automatic grant and not a replacement for Crew’s other benefits. If you only want the Battle Pass, compare its standalone price with Crew’s current benefits and how long you expect to keep the subscription.

Timing, ownership, and cancellation
Claiming rewards is different from keeping cosmetics
Epic frames premium rewards from the listed passes as available to claim while Crew is active and as you progress. It separately says Crew Pack cosmetics are yours to keep. If you are unsure what happens to already-claimed pass rewards after cancellation, check Epic’s current Crew FAQ and the terms attached to your account rather than assuming every benefit has the same ownership rules.
Subscription renewal and platform
Crew renews automatically until canceled. Epic says you must cancel before the next billing date to stop the next charge. The subscription is associated with the platform where you bought it until canceled and is not transferable across platforms. Epic also says features and availability can vary by platform and region, and terms or pricing may change. Review the Fortnite Crew Subscription Terms and the platform’s own subscription conditions before purchase.

Later availability of pass items
Epic says Battle Pass items may become available for purchase in the Fortnite Shop at least 18 months after a pass expires. This is a possibility, not a guarantee that every item will return; availability and alternate styles can vary. Do not buy a pass on the assumption that every missed item will later be available.
Which option should you choose?
- Choose Crew if you expect to use several of its current pass benefits, want that month’s Crew Pack, or value the included V-Bucks and Rocket League benefit enough to justify a recurring subscription.
- Buy V-Bucks if you want a flexible currency balance for eligible Shop choices and do not need Crew’s pass access or other benefits.
- Buy a Shop bundle if you want the specific cosmetics in that offer and prefer a direct purchase over a subscription.
- Buy the Battle Pass separately if that is the only benefit you want and its season-specific standalone price suits you better than Crew.
Check these details before paying
- Open the current Crew, Battle Pass, or Shop offer and confirm exactly what it includes.
- Check the price and currency shown for your region and platform; Epic notes that features, pricing, and availability can vary.
- For Crew, confirm the next billing date, renewal terms, and cancellation route on the platform where you subscribed.
- If buying V-Bucks, verify where that balance can be redeemed before choosing a platform.
- If buying a pass, note its end date and the rewards you still need to earn through progression.
Why older Crew and Battle Pass figures may differ
Epic’s November 20, 2024 announcement described 1,000 monthly V-Bucks and a planned Battle Pass price change from 950 to 1,000 V-Bucks. Those are historical figures, not the amounts listed on the current Crew and Battle Pass pages reviewed here, which show 800 for each. Use the live offer for the current amount. The older announcement is available at Epic’s November 20, 2024 announcement.
