Most Wanted is a single-player roguelike combat-survival mode in Ghost of Yōtei. Pick a bounty, fight through enemy waves and minibosses, choose perks to shape your run, then face the bounty’s boss. Runs earn Mon, which you can spend between runs on techniques, weapon upgrades, charms, and character unlocks. Cosmetics earned in the mode also unlock in the main game.
What is Most Wanted in Ghost of Yōtei?
Sucker Punch describes Most Wanted as its take on a roguelike. Instead of following the campaign’s story missions, you choose a target from a bounty board and try to survive that bounty’s sequence of combat encounters. The official Most Wanted overview and developer announcement describe a loop of escalating fights, temporary build choices, and progression between attempts.
How does a Most Wanted run work?
- Choose a bounty. Select a target associated with a member of the Yōtei Six from the bounty board. Each bounty sets its own sequence of enemy waves and minibosses, ending in a final boss.
- Choose perks as you advance. Completing waves presents perk choices. Options include weapon mastery, gear loadouts, summons, parries, and survivability, letting you adapt the build as the run develops.
- Defeat the bounty’s boss. Survive the encounters and minibosses to reach the final fight. The bounties can be replayed at increasing difficulty, with Lord Saitō’s bounty identified as the hardest endpoint.
- Spend Mon between runs. Runs award Mon, which can be used between attempts for techniques, weapon upgrades, charms, and character unlocks. This longer-term spending is separate from the perk decisions you make during a run.
Which characters can you play?
There are four playable characters: Atsu, Oyuki, Nagato, and Jin Sakai. Atsu is available by default; the others unlock by completing runs. Each begins with a katana and has additional signature weapons, abilities, an Ultimate, and a Kill Streak.

These kits offer different tools: ranged attacks, crowd control, summons, or stealth and assassination options. The official descriptions do not rank the characters by performance or identify a universally strongest choice, so choose based on the weapons and style you prefer.

What carries over to the main game?
Cosmetics earned in Most Wanted also unlock in the main game. The developer says these can be worn during Atsu’s original quest and the Echoes of Sekigahara expansion. The official descriptions confirm cosmetic carryover; they do not say that temporary run perks or all Most Wanted progression transfer to the campaign.

PlayStation lists Most Wanted as part of Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition for PS5, and the mode page refers to both digital and physical editions. Sucker Punch announced the mode as part of patch v2.0, with a release date of October 1, 2026 globally and October 2 in some territories, including Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. The developer announcement says downloading requires an internet connection and a PlayStation account. It also documents a Complete Edition Upgrade for existing owners. Check your regional PlayStation Store listing for current availability and transaction details; the official US PlayStation Store Complete Edition listing is one regional storefront reference.
