Its class-specific bonuses and Leaf Crystal favor offense; Hallowed armor is a reasonable alternative when its hit-prevention effect matters more, while Turtle, Shroomite, and Spectre suit different roles or later progression.
When Chlorophyte armor is available and what it costs
You can craft Chlorophyte armor after defeating the mechanical bosses. A complete set uses one of four class-specific headpieces and requires 54 Chlorophyte Bars, equivalent to 270 Chlorophyte Ore. Since the headpiece determines which class bonuses you receive, decide which version you need before spending the materials. The Official Terraria Wiki’s Chlorophyte armor entry gives the set’s crafting and equipment details.

Which Chlorophyte headpiece fits your class?
The set’s defense and bonuses vary by headpiece. These are the full-set figures reported by the Official Terraria Wiki; they are in-game statistics, not real-world performance measurements.
| Headpiece | Full-set defense | Reported bonuses |
|---|---|---|
| Mask (melee) | 51 | +5% damage reduction; +21% melee damage; +21% melee critical strike chance; +5% movement speed |
| Helmet (ranged) | 44 | +21% ranged damage; +15% critical strike chance; +20% ammo conservation; +5% movement speed |
| Headgear (magic) | 38 | +21% magic damage; +15% critical strike chance; +80 maximum mana; +17% mana cost reduction; +5% movement speed |
| Visor (summoner) | 33 | +21% summon damage; +15% critical strike chance, which does not affect summon weapons; +3 minion slots; +5% movement speed |
Pick the headpiece that matches the weapons and role you actually use. For example, the Headgear’s mana-cost reduction is useful to a magic-focused character, while the Visor’s extra minion slots support a summoner; a bonus is less valuable if your current build cannot use it.

- Build up a hospital from nothing to a masterpiece as you design the most beautiful – or functional – healthcare operation in the whole of Two Point County.
- Optimise your hospital design to increase patient (and cash) flow, arranging corridors, rooms and waiting areas to your exact specifications.
- Expand your hospital to multiple buildings as you look to get as many patients through the door as possible.
- Place decorative and functional items around your hospital to improve its prestige, lower patient boredom, increase happiness and keep those end of year awards flowing in.
- Features two great expansions, 21 hospitals and 119 very unusual illnesses!
What the Leaf Crystal adds
Wearing the full set summons a Leaf Crystal that fires at nearby enemies. The wiki reports 100 base damage and very strong knockback. It adds automatic offense, but should be understood as a supplement to your own weapons rather than a reason to call the armor universally superior.
Chlorophyte vs. Hallowed: offense or protection?
Chlorophyte is the more offensive option in the cited comparison, with class-focused boosts and the Leaf Crystal. Hallowed armor instead grants Holy Protection, which prevents the next enemy hit. The wiki describes Hallowed as the stronger fit for a more defensive playstyle. Neither is the right answer in every fight: weigh the damage and utility your Chlorophyte headpiece supplies against the value of avoiding a hit with Hallowed. The Hallowed armor entry covers its set effect.

How it compares with other class and melee options
- Turtle armor: A defensive alternative for melee players who prioritize survivability over Chlorophyte’s offensive focus.
- Shroomite and Spectre: Later class-focused progression options. Treat them as potential next steps for the relevant class, not as proof that Chlorophyte is a poor upgrade at the point you can craft it.
Your class and weapon choice affect which bonuses matter most. Compare the set to the gear you can use now and the encounters you are preparing for, rather than judging it as a single all-purpose ranking.
Version and platform note
The wiki’s main armor information applies to Desktop, Console, and Mobile. Old-gen console and Nintendo 3DS versions have separate information, so check the page for your specific version if you play on a legacy platform.
