Honor of Kings esports connects grassroots teams to regional professional leagues and international club tournaments, while separate events let players compete for their countries. The exact route, teams, and match format depend on the event and season: the Open Series is a starting point, regional leagues form the professional layer, and global tournaments use their own qualification rules.
How the Honor of Kings esports system is organized
Think of the scene as several connected competition pathways rather than one league with a single promotion ladder. Grassroots competition can lead toward regional professional play; regional results and other qualification routes can lead to international club events. National competitions are a separate context in which players represent a country, not a club.
- Grassroots: The official Open Series gives grassroots and semi-pro teams a route toward Regional Pro Leagues and global events. The publisher described Open Series Split 6 in 2026 as a pathway to the Regional Pro Leagues. Its 2025 announcement described the series as open without rank restrictions; that description should not be assumed to define every later split’s rules. Level Infinite and TiMi Studio’s 2025 roadmap reported more than 150,000 sign-ups for Split 3, a participation figure for that split, not a current-season count.
- Regional professional leagues: These are separate circuits, with region-specific names, seasons, and schedules. Official 2026 listings include Indonesia Kings Laga (IKL), MY Honor of Kings League (MKL), Philippine Kings League (PKL), Honor of Kings Brazil Championship (CHOKBR), and Honor of Kings Major League (KML).
- International club tournaments: Teams may reach these events through regional league results and other event-specific routes. Qualification is not fixed from year to year.
- National representation: Events such as the Esports Nations Cup and the Asian Games put country representation alongside, but distinct from, club-league competition.
What the regional leagues mean for teams
A regional league is a professional circuit associated with a particular market or region, not a round of one worldwide table. A team’s route into an international tournament depends on that event’s published qualification rules. The 2025 KWC plan, for example, said 18 teams from regional leagues would qualify, alongside that year’s KPL Spring champion. That is a historical example, not a standing rule for future KWC editions. The 2025 roadmap sets out that year’s route.
For the 2026 season, the official event listings name IKL, MKL, PKL, CHOKBR, and KML. They also include Open Series Split 6 and Women’s Series 3. These labels identify different competitions; they do not imply that all have the same roster rules, match format, or path to a global event. The official Honor of Kings esports event listings are the place to check an individual circuit’s current details.

How global tournaments can differ: KWC at EWC26
KWC at EWC26 illustrates one event’s design, not a universal Honor of Kings format. It brought together 20 teams from Honor of Kings and Arena of Valor, used a dedicated tournament patch based on Honor of Kings Season 15, and made 111 heroes playable. The event had a $3 million USD prize pool, as announced by Honor of Kings in 2026. Honor of Kings’ July 1, 2026 announcement described the field, patch, stages, and format.
Stages and match lengths
| Stage | Field and structure | Match format |
|---|---|---|
| Play-in | 8 teams in two groups; top two in each group advanced | Best-of-three, double elimination |
| Group stage | 16 teams in four groups; top two in each group advanced | Best-of-three, double elimination |
| Playoffs | 8 teams; single elimination | Best-of-seven, except the third-place match, which was best-of-five |
The tournament used Global Ban&Pick. The July announcement specified Ultimate Battle draft mode for the best-of-seven grand final. These rules belong to KWC at EWC26; another tournament may use different stages, draft rules, or match lengths.

How that edition finished
The event concluded in August 2026: Kuaishou Gaming (KSG) defeated AG.AL 4–3 in the final, while Geekay Esports beat ROC Esports 3–0 in the third-place match. The August 10, 2026 season update reported the results.
How club events differ from national competitions
Regional leagues and international club tournaments are built around teams competing as clubs. National events use country representation instead. The 2026 season update listed Honor of Kings at the Esports Nations Cup (ENC) and as an official medal event at the Asian Games in Nagoya. It announced ENC 26 for November 24–29 in Riyadh and the Asian Games competition for September 27–28 in Nagoya; these are announced 2026 dates, subject to schedule changes. The same update said KIC2026 would culminate the season in December, with 16 teams expected, and announced more than 36 teams expected for KWS4, with an offline final. These are event-specific announcements, not a common format or qualification guarantee. Honor of Kings’ August 10, 2026 update gives those calendar details.

How to follow a season without mixing up its events
Schedules, rosters, qualification rules, and formats are season-specific. To work out what a particular event means, check these details on its official page rather than assuming another league or tournament uses the same setup:
- Competition context: Is it a regional club league, an international club event, or a national competition?
- Qualification route: Does entry come through a regional league, a direct invitation, or another published route?
- Stage and match length: Look for group structure, elimination rules, and best-of format.
- Game rules: Check whether the event uses a special patch, a cross-title field, or a particular draft mode.
- Current practical details: Confirm dates, team names, broadcast links, and formats in the relevant current listing. The official event listings provide season and event pages.
The official 2026 listings show event labels including IKL Spring, MKL Spring, PKL Spring, CHOKBR Fall, KML Spring, Open Series Split 6, and Women’s Series 3. Their visible date ranges include IKL Spring, February 27–April 12; MKL Spring, February 26–April 5; PKL Spring, February 20–March 29; CHOKBR Fall, February 20–April 12; and KML Spring, March 12–22. These are listed 2026 dates, not recurring annual windows; consult the event pages for any updates.
