The company says preorder shipping generally takes four to ten months, depending on complexity. For a specific title, use its product page and the live Pre-Order Status tracker for the most relevant estimate and production stage.
How a Limited Run Games preorder is made
Limited Run Games describes its products as bespoke and manufactured to demand. It says production begins after a preorder window closes, so the window’s end—not the announcement date—is the useful starting point for understanding the manufacturing timeline. Editions and quantities vary by product; there is no universal run size.
Design and creative work
For collector editions, this stage can include designing components, packaging, and labels, as well as obtaining developer and partner approvals.
Sampling and approval
The production team works with manufacturing partners on samples and submits them to developers for approval. Revisions are typical, and significant changes can extend this stage.

Production
Limited Run Games says production is typically the longest stage because different components can have different manufacturing times.

After manufacturing, components travel to an assembly facility, where a collector edition is put together.

This status means the edition is ready to go, not necessarily that it has shipped. The company’s status description allows for transit from the assembly partner and processing at its warehouse before dispatch.
How long preorder shipping takes
Limited Run Games’ General Shipping Information article, dated March 18, 2026, gives a broad estimate of four to ten months after a preorder window closes, depending on complexity. Its order FAQ gives a related estimate: standard edition games generally ship within four months, while collector editions can take up to ten months. These are general estimates, not delivery promises.

The product page and live tracker are more useful for an individual title because they show its current estimate, stage, and notes. The tracker changes over time, so dates shown for other titles are not reliable predictions for yours.
Where to check your order status
- Open the title’s product page. Review the displayed production status and shipping estimate.
- Check the Pre-Order Status page. Find the title’s current stage, estimated window, last update month, and any notes.

- For an eligible Purple Dot preorder, check your email and the Manage Pre-orders portal. Use the reference information sent by email; Limited Run Games says a change to the shipping date triggers an automatic email.
- If the title is marked delayed, check spam for the production-team update. Contact support if the update is missing or you need help with an order-specific issue. Include your order number and relevant details in a support ticket.
Shipping, combined orders, and delivery issues
Shipping method and combined preorders
Limited Run Games says it ships worldwide, subject to restrictions in some countries. Shipping cost is calculated at checkout based on parcel weight, number of items, and destination. If an order contains multiple preorders, the selected shipping service may hold the whole order until every title is complete. Check the shipping arrangement for your order rather than assuming each item will be dispatched separately.

Tracking that stops updating
In its General Shipping Information article, Limited Run Games says tracking can take 14–21 days to update and considers packages lost after 21 days without movement for domestic and international shipments. This is company support guidance, not a guarantee about scan timing for every carrier or destination. Check the latest support instructions and open a ticket when appropriate.
Damage or a delivery marked complete
For shipping damage, the support article asks customers to contact support with images and the order number; possible replacement or refund is reviewed case by case. If tracking says delivered but the package is missing, Limited Run Games’ order-support article says to contact support within 90 days of the recorded delivery date.

Can you change or cancel an order?
Limited Run Games says preorders can be cancelled through the Purple Dot self-service portal. During the preorder window, a customer who wants to change an order can cancel it and place a new one. The company says it cannot add items to an existing preorder or merge separate orders into one shipment. In-hand item cancellations are referred to support for review, and an order cannot be cancelled after digital content has been issued.
The order-support article says customers may ask for a return or exchange within 90 days of delivery, with eligibility reviewed case by case. Items with an emailed digital key cannot be returned; the stated exception does not apply to keys printed inside a sealed box. Vault items have separate final-sale terms, including limited remedies for damage. Check the current support page for the policy that applies to your item and location.
How to compare editions or decide whether to preorder
- Edition and contents: Compare the standard game with the collector edition components listed on that product page.
- Production stage: Use the tracker’s current stage and notes, rather than the announcement date alone.
- Estimate and remaining work: Consider the displayed shipping window and whether approvals, component production, or assembly are still underway.
- Order grouping: Check whether other preorders in the same order could delay dispatch.
- Your timing and availability needs: Decide whether the published estimate suits you. A limited or numbered run does not establish that a sold-out title will be restocked.
Run sizes are product-specific. For example, the official Another World Nintendo Switch product page describes that edition as limited to 1,000 copies; that figure applies to that product, not to Limited Run Games releases generally. The page showed the item as sold out when checked on October 4, 2026, so it should not be treated as currently available.
