Arc Games has advertised “hundreds of hours of gameplay,” and game director Jonathan Blow was reported to estimate around 500 hours for a typical completionist—but he stressed that estimate was not a promise. That points to an unusually large puzzle adventure, not a reliable estimate for finishing the main progression.
How long is Order of the Sinking Star?
There is no substantiated “how long to beat” figure yet. The game was scheduled to launch on October 8, 2026, with some regions seeing it on October 9, so the available numbers are pre-release descriptions and estimates rather than recorded player results.

Blow also said players can reach the endgame without traversing every part of the overworld. That suggests a distinction between following the main progression and pursuing completionist exploration, but no source establishes how many hours either route takes.
Why the estimates are so large
The Steam listing describes a single-player puzzle adventure built around nonlinear exploration, more than 1,000 interconnected handcrafted puzzles, and four distinct worlds. Each world has its own characters and mechanics, and the puzzle systems change as the worlds meet. The advertised scale and interacting systems help explain why the developer expects a long experience, but they do not establish how long an individual player will need.

Is it worth the price?
The announced U.S. launch price is $29.99. At that price, the game looks most promising for players who actively want a sprawling, open-ended puzzle challenge and are comfortable with a potentially substantial time commitment. The advertised puzzle count and completionist estimate may appeal to that audience, but neither proves the game’s quality or guarantees that a buyer will get hundreds of enjoyable hours.
If you want a short, predictable game, or need evidence of how its puzzles feel in practice, waiting for launch and player feedback is the more cautious choice. The Steam listing had no user reviews as of October 7, 2026, so there was not yet a player consensus or review-based value assessment.
The $29.99 figure is the announced U.S. launch price, not a confirmed price for other regions. Check your local storefront for the amount you would actually pay; the available information does not establish regional pricing or later discounts. The announced platforms are Steam (including Steam Deck), Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5. Steam community announcements report that the game is Deck Verified, which may make Steam the natural fit for players who prefer handheld PC gaming.
