Roblox reported support for iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, Xbox, PlayStation, Chromebook and select VR hardware as of December 31, 2025 in its annual report. That confirms client availability, not one identical storage requirement across those devices.
Computer requirements
The 300 MB figure applies to the Roblox player’s installation on supported 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11 systems and macOS 10.13 High Sierra or later. Roblox normally uses the system volume, and the installer may need temporary working space in addition to the final files. Linux is not officially supported on that requirements page. Phones and tablets
Apple’s listing is a useful point-in-time package size, not a promise that Roblox will occupy exactly 244.1 MB after installation. iOS or iPadOS may need working space for an update, and Roblox can retain downloaded experience assets. Android sizes vary, so quote the number shown for the specific device rather than applying one Android figure to every phone.
Consoles, Chromebook and VR
For these platforms, use the current store listing and the device’s own installed-app information. A console may reserve update space beyond the visible Roblox size. Chromebook storage behavior also depends on whether the installation is delivered through its Android-compatible environment; do not assume it matches Windows.

Why Roblox can use more space than its download
Roblox is a platform containing many user-created experiences, not one fixed world packaged in full on your device. The initial client contains the engine and core files. When you join an experience, the client can download maps, textures, sounds, models and other assets needed for that session.
Roblox describes texture streaming that dynamically loads textures for the scene and stores compressed assets in a local disk cache. A detailed experience can therefore add more cached data than a simple one, and playing many different experiences can make the local footprint rise. Cache contents are not a fixed allowance: they can be removed and downloaded again later, and Roblox does not publish a universal maximum cache size for every platform.

Roblox’s education documentation explains that experiences are stored online and require an active internet connection: Roblox Creator Hub FAQ. You do not normally install every Roblox experience as a separate traditional game, and a larger drive cannot make Roblox fully playable offline.
How much free space should you leave?
For a normal player
1 GB free is a reasonable floor before installing or updating Roblox. It gives the installer and operating system room beyond the 300 MB computer minimum. If the device is nearly full, target 2 GB or more so an update or cached assets do not immediately trigger another storage warning.

For small phones and Chromebooks
On a 16 GB or 32 GB device, the operating system, photos, videos, offline media and update reservations compete with Roblox. Roblox may install successfully yet still become difficult to update later. Check actual free internal storage regularly; cloud storage does not substitute for local working space.
For creators
Keep several GB free when using Studio, especially if you save local projects or import meshes, textures, audio and video. This is a planning recommendation, not an official Studio disk minimum.

Roblox Studio is a separate application
Studio is needed to create experiences, not to play them. The Creator Hub requirements list 3 GB of RAM minimum and 8 GB recommended, with Windows 10 or macOS 10.14 as minimum operating systems and Windows 11 or macOS 14 or newer recommended. Those figures are memory and operating-system requirements, not disk-space figures.
The Studio installer’s exact storage requirement is not stated in the visible table. In practice, project files, imported assets, backups and exports can become the dominant use, so creators should plan several GB of free disk space rather than treating Studio like the small player download. The Studio installation guide covers the supported installation process.
What to do when Roblox says there is not enough storage
- Check the correct volume. Roblox, the app store or the operating system may require space on the system drive. Hundreds of free GB on another internal or external drive may not help.
- Leave room for temporary files. Installation and updates can need more working space than the final app size, and the operating system may reserve space for its own update.
- Restart the device. A displayed free-space figure can be stale or rounded until storage is recalculated.
- Inspect actual app usage. In the device’s storage settings, distinguish the Roblox application from documents/data, system data, photos and offline media.
- Update normally. Use the official store or client rather than deleting undocumented folders. Cache paths and client packaging can change by operating system and version.
- Clear stored data or reinstall if necessary. On mobile, use the operating system’s app-management controls; on Windows or Mac, use the normal uninstall and reinstall process. Confirm that important progress is tied to the Roblox account before removing the app, because local settings or files are a separate matter.
Clearing a cache may recover space temporarily, but Roblox can download needed assets again when you revisit experiences.
Bottom line
The official PC and Mac installation minimum is 300 MB, and the iOS package was 244.1 MB on August 18, 2026. Those numbers are not a universal lifetime footprint. Reserve at least 1 GB of free internal storage for ordinary play and aim for 2 GB or more if the device is close to full or you play many experiences. Roblox Studio users should keep several GB free for projects and imported content.
