GeForce NOW Free allows up to one hour per gaming session—not one hour per day. When a session ends, you can join the queue again and try to start another. That does not guarantee uninterrupted play: Free members may see sponsorship messages, wait in longer queues, and depend on basic-rig availability.
The short answer
- Free session length: Up to one hour.
- One-hour daily limit? NVIDIA describes the limit per session, not per day.
- Can you play again? Yes. After a session expires, you can rejoin the queue, subject to availability and the terms of your plan.
- Is another session immediate? Not necessarily; queues and capacity can delay it.
NVIDIA’s support article says Free members can play for up to one hour per game session. Its membership terms say members can join the queue again after a session expires and do not set a fixed number of times a member may start a new session in a day, subject to the applicable plan terms.
So the cap is on each active session, not a stated daily allowance. That is not a promise of unlimited, uninterrupted free gaming: queues, ads, rig availability, regional service conditions, and policy changes all matter.
Is the one-hour limit per day or per session?
It is up to one hour per session. For example, if you start playing at 7 p.m., wait time beforehand does not turn the session into a one-hour daily allowance. Once the active session reaches its limit, you can queue again for another session. If a rig is available, you may be able to continue after the wait; the next session is not a seamless extension of the first.

NVIDIA’s terms do not specify a fixed daily session-start limit. They also do not promise a particular amount of total Free playtime each day or month. In practice, how much you can play depends on getting another session and on service capacity.
Does queue or ad time use up the hour?
The hour applies to the gaming session, not the time spent waiting for a game to launch. NVIDIA says Free members may see up to two minutes of video sponsorship messages before each Free session while in the queue. Those messages are not extra playtime; they are part of the pre-session wait. The GeForce NOW FAQ describes the sponsorship messages, while the membership terms note that Free members should expect advertising and longer queues than paid members.

What happens when a Free session ends?
- The session reaches its limit. NVIDIA’s published cap is up to one hour. The warning or interface wording can vary by client version and region, so do not rely on a specific countdown or button label.
- The active stream closes. You return to the app or session flow; you are not automatically transferred to another rig.
- Save progress where possible. Your progress depends on the game’s own save system and cloud-save support. Save manually before the cutoff, especially if the game has long stretches between autosaves.
- Join the queue again. You may see sponsorship messaging and wait for another available rig before starting again.
For example, a player who starts at 7 p.m. might wait in the queue, play for up to an hour after connecting, then rejoin the queue around 8 p.m. The second session could begin soon or after another wait; this is an illustration, not a guaranteed timeline.

Will your progress save between sessions?
That depends mainly on the game and its save system—not on whether your GeForce NOW membership is Free. Games may use Steam Cloud, Epic cloud saves, Ubisoft cloud saves, or their own account-based saving; others may save locally or behave inconsistently. Multiplayer progress is often tied to an online account, but that does not guarantee every campaign or activity will resume exactly where you left off.
GeForce NOW streams supported PC games connected through compatible storefronts and services. You generally need to own or otherwise have access to a game, unless it is free to play. Check the game’s save behavior and allow time for it to save before your session ends; NVIDIA’s service page explains its supported-game and storefront model.

Does Free have a daily or monthly playtime allowance?
NVIDIA does not publish a fixed daily Free-hour quota in the current membership terms. Its current FAQ sets out a 100-hour monthly premium playtime allowance for Performance and Ultimate members, with up to 15 unused hours able to roll over. It does not identify an equivalent 100-hour monthly bank for Free users.
That distinction matters: do not apply the paid plans’ 100-hour allowance to Free, or assume that Free has a guaranteed monthly allotment. The published Free rule is up to one hour per session, with repeated sessions subject to queues, capacity, service availability, and plan terms.

Other limits of GeForce NOW Free
- Ads: Free members may see sponsorship messages before sessions.
- Longer queues: You may wait longer than members on paid plans, particularly when demand is high.
- Basic rigs: Free access uses basic rigs; specifications and performance depend on region, game, and server availability.
- Supported games only: GeForce NOW is a streaming service, not a library that gives you every PC game for free. The title must be supported and available to your account through a compatible store or service.
- Regional differences: Plan names, features, session details, and availability can vary by country and service operator. Check the terms and plan page for your location.
Is Free a good fit?
Free is useful if you want to test whether GeForce NOW works on your device and connection, play in short bursts, or stream supported free-to-play games without committing to a subscription. It is less suitable if you regularly play for several hours at a time, need predictable access, or cannot risk a session ending during a competitive match.
Before using it, check NVIDIA’s system requirements and connection guidance. A queue may get you a session, but a stable connection and a compatible game are still necessary for a good experience.
What changes with a paid plan?
NVIDIA’s current consumer plan names are Performance and Ultimate; older articles may call the Performance tier “Priority.” Paid tiers offer benefits such as faster access and higher-tier rigs, with the details depending on region and current plan terms. The important limit is that ordinary Performance and Ultimate memberships have a 100-hour monthly premium allowance, not unlimited premium playtime. NVIDIA says up to 15 unused hours can roll over; members who use their premium hours can buy additional time through the Account Portal or continue with a Free-style experience until their allowance resets.
For a single long session or one-off event, a Day Pass may be worth comparing with a recurring membership. NVIDIA’s US page describes Day Passes as providing 24 hours of premium access. Prices and availability can change, so check the live offer for your country before buying.
Two exceptions can confuse older coverage: Founders members may have a separate grandfathered benefit as long as the membership remains eligible and does not lapse. NVIDIA’s FAQ also says that members with certain grandfathered unlimited playtime retain it only until the first billing date after January 15, 2026, unless they qualify for the separate Founders benefit. Those exceptions do not describe the standard Free plan or ordinary new paid memberships.
