At a continuous 15 W, a fanless Intel N100 box uses 0.36 kWh per day and 131.4 kWh in a 365-day year. Multiply 131.4 by the all-in electricity rate on your bill to estimate annual power cost. At an illustrative rate of $0.20 per kWh, that is $26.28 per year; your actual cost depends on your location and tariff.
Calculate the electricity cost
The calculation uses the assumed wall draw of 15 watts for every hour of operation:
- Daily use: 15 W × 24 hours ÷ 1,000 = 0.36 kWh.
- Annual use: 0.36 kWh × 365 days = 131.4 kWh.
- Annual cost: 131.4 kWh × your electricity price per kWh.
For example, at $0.20/kWh, 131.4 × $0.20 = $26.28 per year. This is an illustration, not a universal electricity price. Use the all-in rate from your bill, including applicable delivery charges or other per-kWh costs, and substitute your local currency and rate.
Is 15 watts realistic for an N100 mini PC?
It is a plausible estimate for some systems under video playback, but not a guaranteed draw for every N100 box. CNX Software measured 14.7–17.9 W at the wall while playing YouTube video on one fanless MINIX Z100-0dB. Its Windows 11 review used Chrome for 8K60 playback; the PC was connected to Wi-Fi 6, a wireless keyboard-and-mouse dongle, and a VGA screen through an HDMI-to-VGA adapter (CNX Software’s Windows review). In its Ubuntu 22.04 review, CNX Software reported the same range playing YouTube 8Kp60 in Firefox (CNX Software’s Ubuntu review).

Those readings are a useful reference for the reviewed model and setups, not a controlled comparison among N100 computers. Actual wall power can vary with the mini PC, operating system, browser, video resolution and codec, and attached display or peripherals. The Ubuntu review also measured 7.5–7.6 W at idle on that system; an estimate for a stream that is actively playing video should use playback power, not idle power.
Why the processor’s 6 W figure is not the answer
Intel specifies the N100 processor at 6 W TDP, but that is a processor-level specification, not the complete mini PC’s draw at the wall. It should not be used as the system’s streaming wattage (Intel N100 specifications).

Intel lists Intel UHD Graphics, 24 execution units, Quick Sync Video, and 4K support for the N100. Intel’s N-series media presentation describes 10-bit HEVC and VP9 encode/decode and AV1 decode capability. These are hardware details, not power measurements or guarantees that a given browser will play every YouTube stream in a particular way (Intel N-series media presentation).
Estimate your own setup more accurately
For a better estimate than the 15 W assumption, measure the whole system at the wall while it is playing the same kind of video and running the same setup you intend to leave on. Include the display and peripherals if they will stay connected. Multiply the resulting average watts by 24 and divide by 1,000 for daily kWh, then multiply by 365 for annual kWh. For comparisons between devices, keep the playback workload, operating system and browser, video resolution and codec, connected equipment, and electricity tariff consistent.
