Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteA Linux VPS can start at $4 per month, but that entry price may not cover the data transfer a continuous YouTube stream needs. DigitalOcean’s $4 Basic Droplet includes 500 GiB of transfer; its $12 option includes 2,000 GiB. At a continuous 4.5–6 Mbps, a 30-day stream is estimated to use about 1.4–1.9 TB of outbound traffic, so transfer allowance—not just server rent—can determine the realistic bill.
What does a Linux VPS cost?
DigitalOcean’s current pricing page lists these two Basic Droplet examples. Droplets are Linux-based virtual machines. The figures are provider-listed monthly prices and included resources, accessed in 2026; they are examples, not a market-wide price range.
| Plan | Monthly price | vCPU | RAM | SSD | Included transfer |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic Droplet | $4 | 1 | 512 MiB | 10 GiB | 500 GiB |
| Basic Droplet | $12 | 1 | 2 GiB | 50 GiB | 2,000 GiB |
DigitalOcean’s Droplet pricing page lists plan resources and transfer. The lowest listed price is not automatically the lowest workable cost: check whether the transfer allowance covers your chosen bitrate and whether the VPS can handle the video workload.
How much transfer does a 24/7 stream use?
For one continuous stream, the estimate depends chiefly on bitrate and how long the stream runs. StreamNeo’s July 2026 comparison estimates that 4.5–6 Mbps around the clock uses roughly 1.4–1.9 TB of upload traffic over a 30-day month. This is a calculation based on those bitrate assumptions, not a universal allowance or an independent standard.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That estimate makes the transfer difference between the two DigitalOcean examples significant: the $4 plan includes 500 GiB, while the $12 plan includes 2,000 GiB. Check how the provider measures transfer, what happens when the allowance is exceeded, and whether any applicable overage is billed separately.
Choose bitrate for the actual output
YouTube’s current encoder guidance gives different bitrate recommendations depending on codec, resolution, and frame rate. For H.264, its recommended ranges are 5–14 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps and 6–17 Mbps for 1080p at 60 fps. These are ranges, not a single required setting; choosing a higher bitrate increases monthly transfer use. See YouTube’s live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions for the current table.

What determines whether a plan can run your stream?
Relaying a compatible file versus encoding
A VPS that forwards or copies a compatible, already-encoded video does different work from one that has to encode video in real time. Real-time encoding can require substantially more compute. The available figures do not establish a universal minimum CPU or RAM for either workload, so do not assume the $4 or $12 example is suitable without testing your intended file, codec, output settings, and duration.
YouTube advises testing before going live and monitoring stream health during a broadcast. A test with your actual workflow is more useful than a generic VPS size recommendation.

Storage and operating work
Account for space to keep source files as well as the server’s compute resources. A 10 GiB or 50 GiB SSD may affect how much content can be stored locally, depending on file sizes and other software. You will also need to configure and maintain the Linux streaming process, and monitor it while it runs.
Estimate the real monthly cost before choosing
Compare total cost at your planned bitrate, rather than comparing advertised server rent alone. Provider charges and requirements can vary by region and tax treatment; the final bill may also depend on transfer overages and IP charges.

A self-managed VPS can suit someone comfortable operating Linux and maintaining a media process. If the goal is simply to keep uploaded video streaming without maintaining a server process, a managed service is another option. Compare its current terms against the full VPS cost, including transfer, administration, and monitoring rather than server rent alone.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does a $4 VPS guarantee a 24/7 YouTube stream will work?
No. Price and included transfer do not establish that the plan can handle your particular encoding or file-relay workload; test your setup before relying on it.
Is the 1.4–1.9 TB monthly estimate exact?
No. It is StreamNeo’s July 2026 estimate for a continuous 4.5–6 Mbps stream over 30 days; actual transfer varies with bitrate and stream duration.
