Which plan is the better fit?
Choose Individual if one account needs membership
The standard Individual plan is the lowest-cost option for one Nintendo Account at $19.99 per year. Expansion Pack Individual costs $49.99 annually if that account also wants the extra libraries and selected content.
Choose Family if multiple accounts need coverage
A Family membership covers up to eight Nintendo Accounts in the purchaser’s family group. At $34.99 per year for standard service, it may cost less than separate Individual memberships when more than one eligible account needs coverage. The Expansion Pack Family plan is $79.99 per year for the same maximum account coverage with Expansion Pack benefits. Family membership is an annual plan. (Nintendo membership FAQ.)

What the Expansion Pack adds
Both Expansion Pack plans include standard Nintendo Switch Online benefits plus access to additional classic-game collections and selected game upgrades and downloadable content. The added content is not universal: it does not mean every game or all downloadable content is included. Nintendo’s overview also identifies some features exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2. Consider the higher annual price if you specifically want the included libraries or selected add-ons; otherwise, the standard plan is less expensive. (Nintendo Switch Online overview.)
