Nalak is commonly reported to respawn about every 15–20 minutes. That is a community estimate, not a fixed timer confirmed by Blizzard. It is separate from the Isle of Thunder progression requirement that makes Nalak available in the first place.
What is Nalak’s respawn timer?
Petopia gives an approximate 15–20 minute interval, while player reports collected on Wowhead vary, including estimates of 15–20 minutes, 10–20 minutes, and 15 minutes. Treat the range as a practical guide rather than a guarantee: Blizzard’s official pages reviewed describe Nalak’s availability but do not publish a recurring respawn interval.
Petopia’s Nalak reference and Wowhead’s community-maintained Nalak page are the sources for these estimates. The sources do not establish whether the interval is identical in Retail, Mists of Pandaria Classic, across realms, or after future updates.
When does Nalak become available?
The recurring wait after a kill is not the same as the island’s progression unlock. Blizzard says Nalak becomes available when the Isle of Thunder reaches its final phase. Its Patch 5.2 notes describe him appearing after the island has been conquered.

- Blizzard’s Classic content update states that “Nalak, the Storm Lord will become available when the final phase of the Isle of Thunder unlocks.”
- Blizzard’s Patch 5.2 notes describe the original progression context and identify Nalak as a world boss.
Neither page specifies how long Nalak takes to respawn after a defeat.
Where can you find Nalak?
Look for Nalak at the Foot of Lei Shen on the Isle of Thunder, near the Throne of Thunder. Petopia and Wowhead provide location references, but the safest practical description is the area rather than a precise coordinate, which may be imprecise or vary by version.

What does Nalak drop?
Wowhead lists the Reins of the Thundering Cobalt Cloud Serpent among Nalak’s drops, making the boss relevant to mount farming. Blizzard’s Classic update also says defeating Nalak awards Normal Tier 15 legs and gloves, along with some PvP gear, in the content context described on that page. Reward details can differ by game edition; the sources do not establish a drop-rate figure for the mount.
