How Omnimovement Works in Black Ops 6

Omnimovement lets you sprint, slide, and dive forward, sideways, or backward in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. To slide or dive, start sprinting, then tap your crouch input to slide or hold it to dive; the move follows your current direction of travel. Optional Intelligent Movement assists can reduce inputs, but they are not required to use Omnimovement.

What Omnimovement changes

Omnimovement expands familiar Call of Duty movement beyond forward-only actions. You can initiate a sprint, slide, or dive while moving in any horizontal direction—including sideways and backward—then chain moves together. Activision’s [official movement guide] describes the mechanic as using familiar movement mechanics “in any direction.”

Activision’s August 2024 Omnimovement announcement described the feature across Campaign, Multiplayer, Round-Based Zombies, and Warzone. That is the scope stated at announcement time; it does not establish how every later update may affect movement in each mode.

How to slide or dive in any direction

1. Move in the direction you want to travel and start sprinting.
2. Tap your crouch input to slide, or hold it to dive. Your Operator moves along the direction you were already traveling.
3. Use your configured input bindings: the exact button or key depends on your control setup.

A slide loses speed after a brief period. The movement guide also describes canceling a slide with sprint, crouch, or jump, and confirms that you can slide or dive backward. These actions give you options for changing position, but the guide does not prescribe one universally best move for a particular fight.

Chaining moves and rotating while prone

Omnimovement also supports chaining slides, dives, and a supine prone position. In this low-profile stance, you can rotate and look around rather than remaining fixed in one direction.

Combat Supine drill

In an official training example, players drop prone, rotate to survey nearby positions, and fire while staying in that position. It demonstrates the stance’s range of motion; it is not a guarantee that remaining prone is the right choice in every encounter.

180-degree combat dive drill

Another example has a player sprint, dive, rotate in mid-air toward an opponent behind them, and fire as the dive ends. Treat this as a movement drill, not a guaranteed optimal tactic.

Omnimovement and Intelligent Movement are different

Omnimovement is the directional movement system. Intelligent Movement is a separate, optional group of assists that can automate or reduce inputs for selected actions. Activision names Sprint Assist, Mantle Assist, Crouch Assist, and Corner Slice; the movement guide describes ways to adjust behavior such as sprint delay, sideways or backward sprint assistance, and whether to automatically mantle or crouch/slide in certain situations.

You can select combinations rather than turn on every assist. Consider how many inputs you want to reduce, whether an assist might activate accidentally, and whether you want to retain deliberate control over actions such as mantling and sliding. Official material does not identify one best layout or assist combination for all players.

How to get comfortable with the controls

The official movement guide recommends practicing in the Training Course or a Private Match and adjusting movement settings to personal preference. A useful way to apply that guidance is to change one setting at a time, try the same movement in practice, and keep the change only if it improves comfort and control.

• Practice sprinting in each direction before adding slides and dives.
• Try both a crouch tap and a hold while sprinting to feel the difference between a slide and a dive.
• Test any chosen assists in a low-pressure setting so you can notice unwanted activations.
• Use the input bindings and settings that suit your controller, keyboard, or accessibility needs; there is no single required setup.

Accessibility controllers and assistance

Activision says the Xbox Adaptive Controller and Sony Access Controller work out of the box with Black Ops 6. Its accessibility guidance also notes that Intelligent Movement may help players with mobility issues by minimizing and customizing button and stick processes. Neither controller is required for Omnimovement, and stated compatibility does not determine which setup will work best for an individual player.
