How PRAGMATA’s hacking-and-shooting combat works
In PRAGMATA, hacking and shooting are connected parts of the same encounter, not separate combat modes. Diana handles the hacking that exposes an enemy’s weaknesses; Hugh brings the firearms used against those enemies. The core idea is to use their abilities together.

Cho Yonghee, PRAGMATA’s director at Capcom, described the partnership in a June 4, 2025 PlayStation Blog post: “Both have their own abilities, and you’ll need to control them both—at the same time—to overcome the many obstacles you’ll face.” He also called it “This two-in-one approach, where Hacking is key to your success, is our own unique take on combat that you’ll only find here—in Pragmata.”
Those descriptions establish the roles and the intended teamwork, but not exact button inputs, hacking-node rules, timing windows, enemy-specific tactics, or a detailed upgrade system. The official descriptions do not provide enough detail to lay out those mechanics reliably.

- Out-of-This-World Adventure – Stranded on a lunar space station, Hugh encounters Diana, a mysterious android resembling a young girl. While searching for a way back to Earth, they fight to survive against Bots directed to “neutralize” intruders.
- Hack & Shoot – Use each character’s distinct abilities to take down enemies. In combat, Diana can hack foes to expose weaknesses so Hugh can blast them with weapons. This unique fusion of gameplay offers an action-packed experience like no other.
- Space Exploration – Teamwork also extends to traversing the station. Utilize the thrusters in Hugh’s futuristic suit to dash and hover around while Diana hacks security systems to solve puzzles. Only together can they overcome all obstacles.
- Collect and Customize – Gather materials while exploring the station to unlock upgrades, build out a diverse arsenal of weapons, obtain new outfits, and more. Once you’re ready, use the new gear in battle and take on even greater challenges!

PlayStation’s official game page describes these complementary abilities as central to both fighting and moving through the station. That gives hacking a role beyond setting up attacks: Diana can also help the pair get past security barriers.
Why the lunar station matters
PRAGMATA is a science-fiction action-adventure set around a lunar research station. Capcom describes the story as a journey involving Hugh Williams and Diana, an android girl. The station is dedicated to research and development of Lunafilament, a material that, according to PlayStation’s game page, can be used to create almost anything when supplied with the right data. Diana is a Pragmata android created using Lunafilament.

Capcom’s May 7, 2026 announcement lists PRAGMATA for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. It gives April 17, 2026 as the release date, with Nintendo Switch 2 in Japan and other parts of Asia dated April 24. This later announcement supersedes Capcom’s earlier December 12, 2025 release announcement, which had scheduled an April 24 launch.

Capcom also announced the PRAGMATA Sketchbook demo for Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Its demo announcement describes combat as a tactile combination of hacking and shooting while exploring a lunar research station. Storefront and regional availability can change, so check the relevant platform store for current access.
For context on the game’s reception, Capcom reported in that May 7, 2026 announcement that worldwide sales exceeded two million units within 16 days of launch. This is the figure Capcom reported; the release does not describe it as independently audited.
