EA’s skate. has no official offline mode, and Steam lists the game as Unsupported on Steam Deck. ReSkate, an unaffiliated fan project, says it can provide both local offline play and community multiplayer. One Steam Deck OLED owner reports running it with Proton Experimental, but that is an anecdotal setup—not a compatibility guarantee.
Official skate. and ReSkate are different experiences
EA describes skate. as a free-to-play online multiplayer skateboarding sandbox set in San Vansterdam. Its official service is designed to be always online; EA says, “The game and city are designed to be a living, breathing massively multiplayer skateboarding sandbox that is always online and always evolving.” The official Steam listing also requires persistent internet and EA and Steam accounts. ReSkate is separate community software. Its README says it is not affiliated with or endorsed by Electronic Arts or Full Circle, and that players need their own Steam copy of skate. What ReSkate says you can do
Play offline
ReSkate documents an offline mode that runs without EA servers. The project says offline profiles—including skater, outfit, unlock, and progress data—are stored locally under %LOCALAPPDATA%ReSkateprofilesoffline. Its launcher accepts the --offline option, which the README says can launch offline without Steam running. This describes ReSkate’s Windows-side project behavior; it does not establish that every feature works on Steam Deck.

Play with other people
The README describes Steam lobbies for up to 32 players, dedicated servers that can be joined through an in-game browser, and multiplayer activities and mods. These are ReSkate community features, not access to EA’s official online service.
Does ReSkate work on Steam Deck?
Steam currently labels the official skate. listing “Unsupported” for Steam Deck. That status concerns the official game and is not a ReSkate compatibility rating. A recent Steam Deck OLED community post reports ReSkate 1.0.3 running in SteamOS Gaming Mode with Proton Experimental and Steam Input. The post is one user’s account, not independent testing; it does not establish performance, stability, battery life, or compatibility across Deck models. The report’s approach was to copy a Windows ReSkate installation to the Deck, add the launcher to Steam as a non-Steam game, choose Proton Experimental, and use Steam Input. Those are the reporting user’s steps, not official SteamOS installation instructions. The README’s installation directions are for the launcher on a PC: download a release archive, then place ReSkateLauncher.exe and ReSkate.dll beside Skate.exe or in an empty folder where the launcher can install the game.
Why setup can stop working after an update
ReSkate’s launcher checks game files against the project’s currently supported build. The README names Steam build 25414733 and says the project supports one game build at a time. If skate. updates before ReSkate supports the new build, setup or launching may be affected; check the README and current release information before following an older setup report. Early Access and availability
EA says skate. entered Early Access on September 16, 2025. Its listed platforms are PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, with Android and iOS planned to follow later. Steam says the developer has no fixed timeline for leaving Early Access and cautions that “Games in Early Access are not complete and may or may not change further.” The Steam listing also warns that online features may be retired with notice.
