You can accept tips on YouTube Live in two ways: turn on YouTube’s Super Chat and Super Stickers if your channel and stream are eligible, or share a link to an external tip page such as a Streamlabs tip page. Supers appear in YouTube live chat; an external tip page uses a separate payment flow.
What counts as a tip on YouTube Live?
YouTube’s native tipping-like features are Super Chat and Super Stickers. Super Chat lets a viewer pay to highlight a message in live chat; Super Stickers let viewers buy an animated image that appears there. YouTube describes them as ways for fans to connect with creators during live streams and Premieres. They are fan-funding features, not crowdfunding or donation tools.
You can also share a link to an external tip page. That payment happens outside YouTube: a tip through the page is not a Super Chat and is not established by the cited setup instructions as a YouTube chat event.
How to turn on Super Chat and Super Stickers
- Check your channel’s eligibility. In YouTube Studio, open Earn and look for a Supers tab or card. Availability depends on your channel, location, applicable terms and feature-specific requirements.
- Review and accept the required terms. YouTube requires creators to accept the applicable Commerce Product Module and follow relevant terms and policies.
- Enable the available Supers features. Follow the controls shown in the Supers area of Studio. Then check that the particular livestream can use them: a channel’s access to Supers does not make every stream eligible.
- Confirm the stream’s settings. Supers are unavailable on age-restricted, unlisted, private or made-for-kids videos; streams with YouTube Giving fundraisers; and streams where live chat or comments are turned off.
- Monitor contributions while live. Paid messages and stickers appear in live chat. YouTube says creators can view Supers activity in Live Control Room, the YouTube mobile app or the YouTube website.
Understand the displayed YouTube Partner Program thresholds
YouTube’s undated monetization help page, checked in 2026, lists an entry tier for specified fan-funding features: 500 subscribers, three public uploads in the last 90 days, and either 3,000 qualified long-form watch hours in the last 365 days or 3 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days. It lists a higher tier of 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 qualified long-form watch hours in the last 365 days or 10 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days. The page lists Super Chat and Super Stickers at the 500-subscriber tier, but also says each feature has its own requirements. These figures are not a guarantee that Supers will be available to your channel: check the current Earn page and feature eligibility.

Check country and policy availability
YouTube limits Supers to listed countries and territories, and that availability can change. Check YouTube’s current Super Chat and Super Stickers eligibility, availability, and policies for your location and circumstances. YouTube says creators are responsible for applicable laws and compliance; consult the relevant platform terms or a qualified professional for questions about your obligations.
How to add an external tip page
Streamlabs’ guide, published May 20, 2026, documents this setup. The result is a hosted page and link viewers can open; it is a separate payment route from YouTube Supers.

- Connect a payment option. Open Tipping in the Streamlabs dashboard and connect a payment option supported for your account.
- Configure the hosted page. Set the available options, which can include currency, minimum tip, preset amounts and page design.
- Share the page URL. Copy the tip-page link and add it to your channel information or livestream description so viewers can find it.
Streamlabs’ setup guide names PayPal Business and PayPal Standard options. It says the Business option can support cards and, for US users, Venmo. Availability depends on the provider, account and country; do not assume a payment option will work for every viewer. Streamlabs’ PayPal support guide also cautions that personal information visibility depends on the account and processor. Review account visibility and provider onboarding before sharing the page. Check current provider terms for fees, payout timing, accepted viewer countries, chargebacks and tax matters; those details are not established here.

There is no single route that is established as cheaper, safer or better for every creator. Choose based on your eligibility and whether you want contributions to happen in YouTube chat or through a separate page.

Troubleshooting
The Supers tab or card is missing
Check the Earn section in YouTube Studio, your channel’s location and monetization status, and the current feature-specific requirements. Meeting a displayed subscriber and viewing threshold alone does not guarantee access.
Viewers cannot use Supers on a particular stream
Check whether the stream is age-restricted, unlisted, private or made for kids; whether it has a YouTube Giving fundraiser; and whether live chat or comments are enabled. Any of these conditions can make Supers unavailable.

An external tip link does not show a contribution in chat
The external page is a separate payment flow. The documented Streamlabs setup does not establish that a payment through it appears as a YouTube chat event.
You are unsure what personal information a viewer can see
Visibility depends on the account and payment processor. Review the provider’s current account settings and onboarding details before you publish the link.
